Anyone got some tips on smoking prime rib?

I am doing so on Christmas eve. The (boneless) rib roast weighs about 8 pounds. All suggestions welcome.

I have no plans on urning them. I plan on a 250 slow cook, with a little bit of smoke. My father in law bought the meat, he wants me to smoke it, and it turns out bone-in, which makes things easier.

Prime rib is expensive roast beast. Waste of money to me. Eye of round tastes pretty much the same without the gristle. Still give me a steak any day over either.

I am cooking a 3 rib for Christmas dinner, so I don't know. I have had success in the oven, but never tried on the BGE.

OK, well I have cooked the bone in, but not the boneless. For Bone-in which is what it turns out I have, I am cooking it at 250. My 7 pounder will probably take about 4 hours to get to 125 degrees. Herchel, do you have the "plate setter" which allows you to cook indirect? If so and you ave the bone-in, use it and figure about 30-40 minutes per pound.

I have never done boneless, which is what my father in law told me he got. But then when he brought it over last night, it turns out it has the bone - which makes it easier to keep juicy IMO.
