    2013 NHL Off-Season Thread

Thread for the 2013 NHL off-season. Discuss here!

Free agency starts Friday, July 5th.

Today (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday) present the opportunity for teams to talk/negotiate with restricted free agents.

This should be an interesting off-season for free agents. The salary cap is coming down to about $64.3 M, from around $70 M. Plus, the pool of quality free agents is relatively small. This leads me to believe the asking price and cost for these players will be higher than usual.

    Re: 2013 NHL Off-Season Thread

I've been a Flyers fan since I started watching hockey... back in 2002 or so when Roenick was still on the team. Just never had any interest in Southern teams like the Thrashers/Hurricanes. As you see, they could up and leave at any minute. Hockey just isn't big here, neither is soccer. Two of my favorite sports.

    Pittsburgh Penguins.

Re-signed Pascal Dupuis for 4 years @ $16M. Nice move by Shero. Thank you to Dupuis for likely taking a pay cut to stay in Pitt. Love to see players do this. Shows some class and respect to the team, fans, and organization, and that playing hockey is not all about the $.

That's one city that has had difficulty supporting an NHL franchise. Kind of a shame they lost not only the Thrashers, but also the Flames as well... I always thought Atlanta could've been enthusiastic for hockey.
