Georgia-Clemson picked up by ABC for primetime battle

The early TV Schedule is starting to take shape with the Georgia - Clemson game being the first game picked up.

    http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/colle...-battle/nWhCs/

The season-opening matchup between Georgia and Clemson has been picked up by ABC for a primetime broadcast. And it's no wonder given the offensive fireworks that game is expected to produce.

The Aug. 31st game has been tabbed for an 8 p.m. kickoff by ABC, the two schools announced Tuesday. The game will match two of college football's top quarterbacks for 2013 in Georgia senior Aaron Murray and Clemson junior Tajh Boyd.

The Bulldogs, coming off a 12-2 season and No. 5 final ranking, return 10 starters from last season's record-breaking offense. Murray passed for 3,893 yards and 36 touchdowns with only 10 interceptions in 2012 and is the only quarterback in SEC history to throw for more than 3,000 yards in each of his first three seasons. His supporting cast includes tailbacks Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall -- nicknamed "Gurshall" -- who combined for more the 2,500 yards rushing and 27 touchdowns.

Boyd broke the ACC record last season for touchdowns in a game after throwing for five and running for three in a win over N.C. State. In the Chick-fil-A Bowl on New Year's Eve in the Georgia Dome, he completed 36-of-50 passes for 346 yards and led the Tigers to victory with a 23-yard pass on 4th-and-16 to set up the winning field goal in the one-point win. Clemson finished 11-2 last season.

Is USC not opening up on Thursday this year? Or is it a doubleheader?

Indeed, that is going to be a very interesting game. Should be a really good test for both schools.

David Pollack indicated that GameDay will be there on twitter.

    I hate opening with Georgia

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government can not pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that "the buck stops here." Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

That would not surprise me. I'm sure hoping for a repeat of the 2003 opener in Death Valley.

Me too. Clemson was the trendy favorite. 30-0.
