If Johnny Football is so great, why...

If Johnny Football is so great, why didn't your team recruit him?

Just a honest question. I love this kid, would love him even more if he was on my team. Which got me thinking, the dude is a stud, freak of nature, spectacular once in a generation type playmaker, so why is he not playing for Arkansas, Texas, Texas Tech, Florida, LSU, Missouri, Oregon. Why did he sign with A&M, and why did everyone else pass on him?

He's a TX kid and maybe he wanted to be an Aggie his whole life. He was a 3-star prospect according to his Wikipedia page and he had offers from the Aggies, Baylor, Colorado State, Iowa State, Louisiana Tech, Oregon, Rice, Stanford, Tulsa and Wyoming.

A lot actually. Look at Georgia Tech.

Other than Kansas State, look at the top 10 teams in the nation and how they have recruited over the last 5 years.

It means that the players with higher star counts are more likely to be good college players. Nobody's ever said it's a guarantee that their college play would exactly mirror their star count.

I know I know...I was being facetious. Golly!

Basically, the Aggies lucked out. Ol' Johnny Foosball flew just low enough under the radar for them to snag him.

However he got there, I damn sure love to watch that kid play football. It scares me what he'll be doing in a couple years.

He's from Kerrville Tx, just west of Austin, and has no apparent legacy ties to A&M. Did Wiki mention anything about his police record, jail time, or how many tattoos he has? The kid is seemingly the polar opposite of Tebow.

Re: If Johnny Football is so great, why...

I believe Oregon recruited him and he committed there but decided to sign with TAMU and be closer to home. I am doing this from memory from talking to TAMU fans before the Florida game so I might remember wrong on where he committed first but feel pretty sure it was Oregon. Texas apparently recruited him as a safety or something, seems like they made a mistake there IMO. Florida does not recruit Texas often because its rare Texas kids come Florida's way though a few have. Texas is more of a normal recruiting ground for most of the schools you mentioned, though. However LSU probably wouldn't have recruited a dual threat QB for their offense.
