Sheridan says the NCAA is investigating Auburn

According to Danny Sheridan, Auburn has pulled two of its assistant coaches off the road because of possible recruiting violations, which is a sure sign that Auburn is trying to placate the NCAA. He feels certain that the NCAA is investigating, but offered no other details.

    http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2..._river_default

I have no independent sources saying the same thing. And we all know that Sheridan is an Auburn hater who just dumps on the airwaves to stink up the place (e.g. I know the bag man, but it's a secret). So, who knows if there is any truth to any of this. I'm in wait and see mode.

With the current season a disaster and the coaching staff on the way out, I suspect Auburn will lose the best of its commits for next year anyway. So hey, why not throw some NCAA sanction in there as well to make it even worse?

Sheridan also says that Auburn is desperate to hire Petrino.

I'm to the point where if Sheridan says it....its not true

Re: Sheridan says the NCAA is investigating Auburn

I think Coach Chizik has given up on the rest of his opponents and is spending all of the practice time preparing for Alabama; that is the only explanation I have for a defense that looked so great against LSU and so unprepared against Texas A&M. Anyway, Auburn always has great coeds so attracting Coach Petrino should be no problem...

In Auburn's defense, LSU and TAMU are world's apart offensively

Okay, but LSU and Florida were able to prepare for A&M despite the different offensive style.

Auburn has good talent at DL and is about to handle a one-dimensional run game. They are very weak in the secondary and LB (at least in pass coverage). LSU doesn't have the passing attack to expose this. TAMU obviously does. UF and LSU both have great DBs and were about to matchup well against TAMU.

    Its all about matchups

I have learned the hard way over the years not to underestimate Auburn's athletes.

The inability of LSU to move the ball against Auburn says more about the LSU offense than the Auburn defense -- at least at that time. I think LSU offense has improved a bit since then.

Auburn DC VanGorder stated right after the loss to Clemson, first game of the season, that coming from the pro ranks, he had no clue how to defend against the wide open offenses that are now common in college ball. LSU was easier for him to prepare for.

I think that's nothing but message board fodder. As far as I know he never said that.
