    Cody Larsen Leaves UF program

Not sure how much of a loss it is....

Friday afternoon, redshirt sophomore forward, Cody Larson announced that he has left the Florida men’s basketball team.

“After a lot of careful thought, I have decided that I need to place my focus on my personal life and my academics,” said Larson in a press release from the University of Florida. “I really appreciate Coach (Billy) Donovan and the whole staff here at Florida for the support they have given me and that made this decision even harder.”

Larson sat out the 2010-2011 season with a redshirt. The 6-foot-9 forward couldn’t find a role last year’s Gators team that finished 26-11 and a trip to the Elite Eight. Larson played in 25 of Florida’s 37 games, only averaging 0.5 points and 0.8 rebounds per game.

It appeared the Larson would be asked to play a bigger role this season for the Gators. Although he struggled to make an impact on the floor, the reserve forward made headlines off the floor.

As long as Young, Murphy, and Yeguete can stay healthy, we'll be perfectly fine. Larson was unlikely to get significant minutes in a healthy frontcourt this season. He might have gotten some time in blowouts, but it was obvious last season when he failed to beat out a 6'6" Prather for playing time after Yeguete went down that he was never going to be a significant contributor. It was even more obvious when it was reported that his scholarship had been yanked this off-season due to off-the-court issues. He would've been buried in the rotation in the future as well, with Harris, Yeguete, Finney-Smith, Walker, and hopefully Randle or Embiid.

I wish him the best in his future endeavors, though. Hopefully he'll do well for himself, whether he's playing basketball or not.

he really didnt play even when there was injuries last year. Larson had already been stripped of his scholarship for issues off the court. he had some talent but could never stay out of trouble.

    Year too late??? Hummmmmmmmmmm
KT is so knowelegable about basketball, he can back his **** up. He can rip a program 6 ways to Sunday, yet turn around in the next breath and explain why that same program should/could/will be/is a great program.

I like and respect kentubby, he does know his stuff when it concerns college basketball.

This board would be boring if it wasn't for Kentubby's posts and the responses he gets.

Kentubby is one of my favorite posters on this board. Sure he has some personal views, but this board would be so if everyone agreed all the time that it wouldn't be worth going to. I'd challenge you to find another poster on this board that knows as much about EVERY SEC team as he does. He knows more about lowly South Carolina and our recruiting then alot of our own fans do. It would be a sad day for the basketball forum if he ever left.
