    Rumor of the day

Chizik and Jacobs are out but the announcement is being withheld out of respect for the passing of Chizik's mother... and to expect Uncle Rico to be taking over as interim HC as early as this week.

My info on Jacobs isn't as solid as Chizik. Sounds pretty confident that Chizik is definitely out. Not sure why they wouldn't just announce the info on Jacobs. We shall see.

    Re: Rumor of the day

I sent an email to Auburn president last week expressing (in polite terms) my opinion that it was time for Jay Jacobs to be moved into some other capacity and the entire Athletics Department administration, including Pat Dye, cleaned out, starting over from scratch. I suggested that a new Athletic Director be hired before trying to recruit any new coaches.

I received an email today from Jay Jacobs in response. Just two sentences indicating he had received the message, that he appreciated my frustration, and thanking me for sharing my thoughts. Ha!

    lol@uncle rico

l feel sorry for Chizik now. l guess that 7 million AU owes him will help ease the pain.

When is a Republican Keynesian? When the US is in a recession and they are president. Any other time it is "debt" and "socialism" to put people back to work.

I haven't heard anything about this, terrible timing to fire him right after his mom passed away though. Jay Jacobs has to go, now, so I hope that is entirely true. He's not only ruined our football, but basketball, baseball, and our swimming teams as well. I think at this point it may just be better to wait until the end of the season to let Chizik go, unless he wants out right now, which he very well might.

So, Jay just forwarded your email to Jay.

Said it last week, and will say again, I'll be very surprised if Chizik is out before the season is over. What good would that do? Simply makes no sense. I don't see Auburn hiring a head coach from within the program, which hiring within would be the only half-logical reason to dismiss Chizik now.

...and, how easy some folks forget that Chizik brought Auburn their first national championship. To dismiss him in mid-season would be a literal slap to your own face, and in my honest opinion, would undermine the respect and dignity of the program.

    Chizik deserves a graceful exit.

    That was their second NC.

CGC had a 5-19 head coaching record coming in.

Don't think any Auburn fans on here were too excited about the hire in the first place...

My dad was a student at API in 1957 H.

They were on probation then, so he never felt it was a "true" NC.
