    Calipari's next big challenge

An interesting read by Dan Wetzel about Calipari's recruiting strategies and the big goal. Not just a national championship -- a 40-0 season. But the article has lots of other little insights that reveal the difference in Calipari's approach to building winning teams. It creates a definite advantage for Kentucky in recruiting top players.

“Everybody is going to be mad,” Calipari said of other coaches who dislike the recruiting advantage. “I know. Did I do it because of that, just to aggravate people? I might have.”

    Re: Calipari's next big challenge

A perfect season is possible, albeit unlikely. The talent he's assembled could give him the 6 or 7 best players on the court in most games.

Cal's recruiting pitch is great. "You won't get 30 shots at UK. You wanna win a title? Can you do it alone? Okay then, you'll have seven other guys as good as you."
KT is so knowelegable about basketball, he can back his **** up. He can rip a program 6 ways to Sunday, yet turn around in the next breath and explain why that same program should/could/will be/is a great program.

This board would be boring if it wasn't for Kentubby's posts and the responses he gets.

Kentubby is one of my favorite posters on this board. Sure he has some personal views, but this board would be so if everyone agreed all the time that it wouldn't be worth going to. I'd challenge you to find another poster on this board that knows as much about EVERY SEC team as he does. He knows more about lowly South Carolina and our recruiting then alot of our own fans do. It would be a sad day for the basketball forum if he ever left.

    Re: Calipari's next big challenge

Cal mentioned going 40-0 after beating Kansas for the title. This will be something to watch. This next UK team won't be a pushover, but if any of these guys return to go with the class coming, it'll be something to see. It'll be Cal's deepest team at UK.

A 40-0 season is difficult regardless of how talented a team is. The 2013-14 will probably have the talent to do it, but they'd still probably drop one along the way.

Very hard- UK is a Randle or Wiggins away from doing just that...Or both and 40-0 is a done deal...

40-0 isn't a "done deal" regardless of how good the talent is. A super-loaded team could still have one bad night on the road and drop a game. A team with both Wiggins and Randle would have a great chance to do it, though... Hopefully Randle will be a Gator.

Harrison twins Young Randle and Wiggins with Marcus coming off the bench would go 40 - 0 the talent gap would be to big because not EVERONE of the players would have off nights.

It's not just about that loaded class. We might have three guys, four guys return off this team that might win another title.
