If Chickenville comes up with $2.5 millies a year for 7 years, Frank Martin's days in Kansas are as gone as Dorothy in a cyclone.

All you really need is three or four players in hoops. USC has them. You guys are on your way.
Agreed - I think a good coach should be able to win with players like Ellington, Gill, Harris, and Leonard. An average coach can't, but Martin always seems to get the most out of his players. This would be a great hire, imo.

He would be a great hire for USC if they could get him to come there. If he's able to recruit the kind of talent he has to Manhattan, KS (total backwater of Kansas) imagine what he could do in Columbia. Sure the guy's intense. But, he loves his players and gets results.

He would be a very good coach and it will only help the SEC. There is reason for the SEC being weak and that is we have some not so good coaches in it. So if this does happen then good for the SEC.

I would lay down the money and land him if I were SC. If you want to compete, it costs, and Martin gets results. And actually, 2.5 millies isn't a lot of dough to cough up in the big scheme of things, and the SC athletic department isn't hurting, they can afford it.

I think that would be a great hire although this is the first that I've heard of it not that it means anything lol.

Re: Rumors that Frank Martin (K-State) could be South Carolina's next coach??

Stallings is apparently on SC's list.
    http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2...hreality-plan/

Here's some names in the article:
Mark Byington. The College of Charleston assistant

Anthony Johnson. The former Stall High School, Cougars and NBA guard is working the room for support. And deserves it.

Barclay Radebaugh. The Charleston Southern head coach is eager and worthy.

Steve Robinson. North Carolina's top assistant would get a blessing (and probably schedule favors) from Roy Williams. He fared well as a head coach at Tulsa, not so well at Florida State. But Robinson makes approximately $300,000 at UNC (plus other perks), more than what Charleston was paying Cremins.

Mike Young. Most people assume the 2010 and 2011 Southern Conference champion is a Wofford lifer. But worth a call.

Gregg Marshall- former College of Charleston assistant and Winthrop head coach , coming off his first NCAA tournament appearance at Wichita State,

Kevin Stallings, who just led Vanderbilt to an SEC tournament title.

Kansas State head coach Frank Martin apparently is a possibility. He looks like a bouncer. Acts like a bouncer. Actually worked as a bouncer in Miami, where he grew up as the son of Cuban immigrants.

Frank Martin would be the homerun hire, but I'm not optimistic that his interest is genuine. No reason for Stallings to leave Vandy. Marshall is the fan favorite but who knows... I trust Hyman to make a good hire.
