    The greatest MMA fighter ever

    Anderson Silva's resume of wins:

    WIN-----UD------Demian Maia (top 10 MW)
    WIN-----TKO-RD1-----Forrest Griffin (top 6 LHW, ex-champ)*
    WIN-----UD------Thales Leities (top 10 MW)
WIN-----TKO-RD3-----Patrick Cote (top 15 MW, replacement)
    WIN-----KO-RD1-----James Irvin*
    WIN-----SUB-RD2----Dan Henderson (top 5 MW, ex-champ ((MW & LHW)))

    ------------------------------------

    WIN-----KO-RD1------Tony Fryklund
    WIN-----TKO-RD2-----Jorge Rivera
    WIN-----UD--------Lee Murray (top 10 MW)
    WIN-----UD--------Jeremy Horn (top 10 MW)
    WIN-----KO-RD1-------Carlos Newton (ex-champ)**
    WIN-----UD--------Hayato 'Mach' Sakurai (top 3 P4P, ex-champ)**

    *LHW fight
    **WW fight

Losses to Ryo Chonan, Dajuske Takase, Luis Azerdo

Not defeated in 7 years (DQ loss to Okami in 06)
    Most top 10 wins ever.
Finishes by punches, kicks, knees, elbows, submissions.

First fighter to beat Rich Franklin at MW, to stop Forrest Griffin in RD1 in UFC, only MW to finish Dan Henderson. Never been TKO'd/KO'd.

Yes, Anderson has unavenged losses, but does anyone really care to see him steamroll Takase, Azeredo or Chonan? I didnt think so. Who cares if he has unavenged losses from 8 years ago?

    UFC records:
9 consecutive title defenses (100% win percentage)
    9 title defenses
    14 consecutive wins (next closest-GSP, with 9)
    68.5% significant strike landed percentage
    15 knockdowns

Top 5 wins in 3 different weight classes

70% Takedown defense, 78% takedown accuracy, 3.18 strikes landed per minute, 64% strike defense
"Alabama's cornerbacks don't impress me one bit. They're overrated. Real men don't play zone defense and we'll show them a thing or two come January 1."

Miami WR Lamar Thomas, the weeks before the 1993 Sugar Bowl national title game.

Re: The greatest MMA fighter ever

I still believe Royce Gracie is the best due to the fact that he had to fight 3 fights per night to win with no rounds or weight classes. Silva is the best right now, no doubt, but I would be interested to see how he would do in what the UFC used to be when he couldn't spend months analyzing his opponent and preparing for one person.

Re: The greatest MMA fighter ever

The level of competition is incredibly tougher now, Silva would dispatch most opponents so quickly the multiple fights would not be a factor.

I mean Harold Howard, Keith Hackney, Kimo, Tank Abbott, etc... are not elite fighters.

Totally agree 1000%. They played rough back then. Two rules only: 1) No eye gouging, 2) no mouth hooking. That was it.

Best octagon fight ever was Royce Gracie vs. Kimo. Are you kidding me?... Royce was 6'1" and 180 pounds, Kimo was 6'7" and 295 pounds of pure muscle, and an injured Royce still took his big @ss out. I still occasional pull that one out of the cabinet and watch it. Gracie whipped anyone and everyone.

I loved the fight format back then. I was a big fan. Lost 98% interest when it went to timed rounds. Brazilian ju jitsu rules in the real world of fighting.

My second favorite fight was when Tank Abbott decked the big somoan with a lightning quick head butt (his third such of the 18 second fight if you watch slowly) to the nose followed by a street punch between the eyes. If you've never saw it, you have to watch it. Brutal. Dude seizes up on the canvas.>

Royce Gracie was such an expert fighter, even the 475 lb. Sumo world champ, Akebono, was a piece of cake.
