Tennessee Tennessee fires head coach Todd Raleigh

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Todd Raleigh has been relieved of his duties as the head baseball coach at the University of Tennessee, director of athletics Mike Hamilton announced Monday. A national search for a successor will begin immediately.

"We feel our baseball program, unfortunately, has not made the progress on the field that it should have over the last four years," said Hamilton. "We believe a change in leadership is necessary in order to move the program forward. We appreciate Todd's efforts and wish him the best in all future endeavors."

Contractually, the university is obligated to pay Raleigh his annual base salary for the one year remaining on his contract, as well as one year's worth of additional compensation for broadcast and shoe and apparel pay. That total is $331,657.53, payable over 12 months in equal installments.

Raleigh finishes with an overall record of 108-113 (.489) in his four seasons at Tennessee from 2008-11, including a 42-78 (.350) mark in SEC play.

lol....well good luck with that national search..bottom line..UT is just not an attractive job for a baseball coach, especially one with head coaching experience at this level. Expect another assistant to get his shot..

I agree, '64, that there are some not so attractive thingys with UT baseball. But, it is an SEC job, and any SEC job has a degree of attractiveness.

I hope UT can go out an find a quality coach. There are some smaller conferences with some teams that have a good degree of success. UT just needs to make a quality coach an offer he can't refuse. The SEC needs all of our teams to be competitive nationally.

Good luck with your search Vol fans.
