    The Curse Of Bear Bryant

It lives on. I have no idea how we appease the football gods and lift this curse, but it never fails to bite us in the ass. We can play as well as we have played all season, Hartline can come out having the game of his career leading the offense in a true shoot-out, and then the curse takes away his knee.

Our inept coordinators certainly lost the game for us, but losing Hartline in this game was the turning point.

I'm going ahead and pinning the Auburn loss on the coaching staff for not getting Newton snaps against Miami (OH) and Florida, but getting Tyler F*cking Sargeant some.

Re: The Curse Of Bear Bryant

You know, it is time for Joker to put that pro-style playbook back up on the shelf and pull out something new. I've been thinking about it, and with either Fidler or Newton in at QB next week, it is time we went to a pure option offense. We have better athletes than a team like Navy, we have a big WR to block and who can go up to catch passes, we have a WR who can catch the short passes and make big plays, that same big play WR can also take the ball out of the back field and run it, we have two decent HBs and one pretty damned good HB, and we have a QB who knows how to run the option and is quick and strong enough to keep the ball, and we have another QB who is just flat out fast and great at throwing on the run.

You mix a true option offense with our Wildcat sets and we should be able to effectively move the ball on just about anyone. I think it is obvious at this point that we aren't going to have a prolific passing game regardless of who is at QB... so it is time to gear up for a ground war and use the pass like surgical air strikes.

No joke. You give me Paul Johnson's GA Tech staff with this year's UK roster, and I'll give you a 9-3 or 10-2 record. Our O-Line may just be the best in UK history.

Put Cobb in at Quarterback, he works. And about the UK OL, we seriously could not get any pressure on whoever was playing QB for Kentucky. We owned Ole Miss and made Snead look TERRIBLE because we got pressure on him all that night. We hardly got to UK's QB...

Its no fluke that even Hartline, with his over 5 second 40 time, has gained positive yards on the few option plays the staff called for him. When Fidler was running the option today it looked like he was just a pitch or one broken tackle from taking the edge and breaking down field. With our O-line... and especially with Conner out there blocking everyone in sight, and with our talent, the option could very well be the saving grace for this team this year.

I just checked you guys' schedule out, and if you can't manage to beat Auburn, you're still looking like favorites in the next 4 games.
