What's your opinion on Greek system vs. GDI? I'm thinking about it and I'm not sure whether I want to join or not.

I loved being GDI for my 5 years in school...but then again, I had a bunch of people from high school there that I already knew. If you don't know anybody, it might be a good idea.

Why not save the money and just hang out with the Greek kids? One of my good friends was president of Chi Psi and I always got to go in the house and do whatever. He grew out of it though and isn't even in the fraternity anymore. It sort of sucks when you're the last senior and everyone else is a Sophomore or rising Freshman.

agree with SECgamecock453, just party/hang with the guys. i was friends with a handful of ppl in each of the Frats at my college, still am.

I was a GDI. I entered USC knowing virtually nobody so joining would have been a little easier on me at first, but when I saw how much my friends who pledged grades suffered, I was glad I didn't. Both have their pros and cons, but I was just never attracted to the scene- not a slight to those who were, just a personal preference.

FWIW the greek system at USC is HUGE, so I'm (as is Fodive) evidence that you don't have to be in a fraternity to have a raucous time in college and make a ton of friends (I was in a couple honors fraternities, but those don't count).

oh, i might add, that having a ganja hookup makes you special in the eyes of the frats... well at least around here..

The main thing is to set your self up for a career path that you can enjoy and make a living at. If you can do that a do the greek thing to then go for it. You will have to sacrifice your dignity for a while but you will definitely have better access to cute girls and drinking buddies.
