    MSU 79 South Alabama 60

I didn't watch the game but I followed the live stats, we didn't pull away until the second half though. It's hard to figure out this team but they are constanlty learning one another. Jarvis Varnado had another monster game with 21 points 8 rebs and 6 blks and Ravern Johnson played solid as well. Those two guys are our consistent players so far this season. I don't know what happened to Barry Stewart, he started the season off on fire but he's been horrible the last 4 games or so, he injured his wrist yesterday as well so there is no telling how long he may be out if at all.

Stansbury changed the starting lineup and Phil Turner started the game instead of Kodi Augustus. Stans went with a four gaurd lineup (even though we have 6'7" Ravern at SG/SF). Phil finished with 10 point 4 assist 2 rebs and 2 stls with no turnovers. Phil has quietly been playing descent lately and I must admit, I was skeptical of giving him alot of PT. If he continues to play this way, I'm all for it.

I think it's relevant to point out MSU beat USA (19) by more than Ole Miss (18) and Arkansas (2).

NCMISSSTFAN, it seems like Ronny Arrow always gives you guys a tough game.

As for Stewart, do you think it's fair to speculate that he may have peaked as a freshman, NC?
KT is so knowelegable about basketball, he can back his **** up. He can rip a program 6 ways to Sunday, yet turn around in the next breath and explain why that same program should/could/will be/is a great program.

This board would be boring if it wasn't for Kentubby's posts and the responses he gets.

Kentubby is one of my favorite posters on this board. Sure he has some personal views, but this board would be so if everyone agreed all the time that it wouldn't be worth going to. I'd challenge you to find another poster on this board that knows as much about EVERY SEC team as he does. He knows more about lowly South Carolina and our recruiting then alot of our own fans do. It would be a sad day for the basketball forum if he ever left.

I know it wasn't my question but I think you may be right. I say bring him off the bench again.

It's a tough situation. If I were the coach, I'd probably be starting him. Stewart obviously has lost some confidence (I think that's apparent). You run the risk of having him lose even more though if you bring him off the bench. That's why the coaches get the big bucks.

Then don't play him at all. You run the risk of losing some more games if you continue to do what you've done.

Re: MSU 79 South Alabama 60

IMO, MSU is probably gonna lose those games whether Stewart is starting or not. I don't think Stewart was the difference in those back to back losses in the preseason tourney you played or in the loss to Charlotte, where you were down like 20. Those were losses with or sans Stewart likely.

MSU could use a confident Barry Stewart no question. Part of that is maybe letting him play thru the adversity instead of sitting him.

I agree it is a tough situation but you can not start Stewart for this year and next just because he may lose some confidence. He was not playing well down the stretch of last year...just about lost the SECT game vs Bama for us.
