    Best rushing attack in SEC

Going into spring practice and soon summer practice, what is your teams ground game look like?

UK's ground game is going to be one of the best in the SEC. We have a big battle for RB...

Derrick Locke RB- Sophomore, 4.21 40 yard dash, SEC Field athlete of the year in track, last season had 94 rushes for 536 yards and 5 TD's, averaged 5.5 yards a rush and 43.4 yards a game.

Alfonso Smith RB- Junior, 4.24 40 yard dash, 21 carries for 152 yards and 2 TD's, averaged 7.7 yards a carry and 14.9 yards a game.

Tony Dixon RB- Senior, 72 carries for 422 yards and 4 TD's, 5.7 yards a carry and 37.4 yards a game.

Also we have Junior FB John Connor(5'11 228), Sophomore FB/RB Moncell Allen(he is a truck at 5'7 225 and probably bigger this year), Junior FB Maurice Grinter(6'3 250) that will be the main FB's in the rotation.

I fully expect that Derrick Locke will come out as the starter this season. He will be one of the best in the SEC. All of these guys will be getting a lot of carries and will be racking up a ton of production.

All these was splitting time with Rafeal Little last year as well. UK's ground game will be one of the best in the SEC. This will be the major part of our offense this year with Keenan Burton(WR), Stevie Johnson(WR), Jacob Tamme(TE), and Andre Woodson graduating.

We have Moreno which everyone already knows about and Caleb King his back up or what will be his back up if he continues to do what he's supposedly doing in practice. Everyone raves about him. Georgia's ground game looks to be in great great shape at this point.

Foster (1,162 yds./5.1 yds per rush last season), Hardesty (388 yards in 2007) and Creer (6.2 yds per carry last yr)will be in the backfield this fall for the VOLS. If our O-line can block well I expect some good things from this group.

Maybe with John Connor at FB, you can teleport in the Terminator, because that's what it's going to take for me to believe that bogus hand-timed 4.21.

Well, we got the best two backs returning in the SEC! Wait...WHAT?!?! Ah....sheeeeeet.

On a serious note, Arkansas has little 5'7 Mike Smith, also Brandon Barnett who didn't play much TB at all his freshman year.

The Hogs will somewhat be relying on true freshman De'Anthony Curtis. Curtis should be a gamer.

Tim Tebow- 895 Yards, 23 Touchdowns last season
Percy Harvin- 764 yards, 6 touchdowns last season
Emmanuel Moody- 459 yards, 2 touchdowns (freshman year at SoCal)
Kestahn Moore- 580 yards, 6 touchdowns last season
Mon Williams and Chris Rainey- Medical redshirts last season.

With Moody, I will put ours against any SEC ground game going into this season.

Re: Best rushing attack in SEC

Mike Davis will be our top returning RB for '08. At one point halfway through the '07 season, it was looking like Davis was going to surpass Cory Boyd as the starting RB, but somewhere around the UNC game he fell back and really became almost a non-factor towards the end, averaging 6 carries a game for the last 4 games. He still finished with 518 yards and a 4.5 ypc average. I expect him to be the starter unless soph. Brian Maddox steps up and surpasses him: it's projected that he easily could do that. We'll have Davis, Maddox and Taylor Rank as our straight-ahead, bruising backs, and Wallace and Baker as our elusive speedsters. The '08 season is the year where our OL will have to step up, but we have our 2-deep depth averaging over 300 lb's from tackle to tackle, so if they can work as a unit, we should be able to drive opposing DL's off the ball......

Re: Best rushing attack in SEC

For Alabama the rushing offense is expected to make a healthy gain.Alabama return's everyone who took a snap in 2007 .Injuries and suspended players took a toll on Bama late in the season due to the lack of depth. But that shouldnt be the case in 2008.

Terry Grant (So) Grant rushed for 891 yards averaging 5.0 yards a carry and 8 TD's.
Glenn Coffee (Jr) Was suspended for 4 games but managed to gain 545 yards and 4 TD's.
Roy Upchurch (Jr) got more time with Coffee being suspended and Grant injured he managed 237 yards and 1 TD.

Both J.Lowe and J.Johns who had carries in 2007 have been moved to other positions.

Expected to compete for the depth in 2008.

1.Demetrius Goode (RFR) **** 5-11,218 4.5 he and LeSean McCoy were tagged as the top 2 RB prospects in Prep in 2007.He missed last year due to a knee injury.
2.Mark Ingram (Fr) **** 5-10,195 4.4 Highly regarded prospect from Michigan.
    3.Chris Jordan (Fr) **** 6-2,211 4.41 A top 5 prospect from Tennessee.
4.Ivan Matchett (Fr) *** 5-10,221 4.5 a under appreciated prospect from Mobile but rushed for almost 2000 yards a Senior.
5.Jemaine Preyear (Fr) *** 5-11,205 4.5 Another prospect from Mobile that averaged almost 10 ypc thru his career in HS.
