Defensive end Antoine Carter and linebacker Eltoro Freeman, two of Auburn's top signees from last February's highly regarded recruiting class, have been cleared by the NCAA Eligibility Clearinghouse.
Carter, a former Dillard High School standout, was on campus Monday, ready to go to work with his new teammates. Carter had 76 tackles and eight sacks last season. As a junior, he had 65 tackles and 25 sacks.
Freeman, who had 140 tackles as a senior at Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, is expected on campus any day. Word is still out on wide receiver Chris Slaughter, but Auburn officials are confident he, too, will get good news.
