Highest Rated UGA recruits of all time

    https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/ge...-commits-time/

The Georgia Bulldogs just signed one of the best recruiting classes in history, finishing No. 1 in the nation.

That class consisted of seven 5-star signees and 15 4-star players — incredible numbers for coach Kirby Smart and his staff.

Four of the 2018 players rank in Georgia’s Top 10 all-time recruits.

Here’s a look at the Bulldogs’ Top 10 since recruiting rankings became commonplace.

(Note: All rankings via the 247Sports composite.)

    1. 2018 QB Justin Fields — .9998 rating
Fields is the best player in the star-system era to sign with the Bulldogs, and it’s unlikely he’ll get much playing time as a freshman in 2018.

That’s because the Dawgs have Jake Fromm as their entrenched starter, as the freshman led the team to the National Championship Game. He’ll likely enter the 2018 campaign with his starting job intact, but Fields will be breathing down his neck all year.

    2. 2015 DT Trenton Thompson — .9992
Thompson had an up-and-down three years in Athens, breaking onto the scene in a big way in the Liberty Bowl win over TCU in 2016, recording three sacks.

However, he didn’t have a single sack in 2017, and his decision to leave school a year early raised some eyebrows. It’s tough to fault a guy for wanting to go play in the NFL and actually make some money, but it would have been interesting to see how he fared in his senior season.

    3. 2004 DE Brandon Miller — .9980
Miller is perhaps the most disappointing player on this list. In three years with the Bulldogs, he failed to live up to expectations, recording only 98 tackles and one sack in 37 career games.

The Dawgs will hope they have better luck with their 5-star 2018 and 2019 guys.

    T-4. 2016 QB Jacob Eason — .9975
Sadly, we know how Eason’s career in Athens played out, as he is off to Washington after two years with the Dawgs.

He was the team’s starter as a true freshman, leading the Bulldogs to an 8-5 record. He then injured his leg in Week 1 of the 2017 season, causing Jake Fromm to take over. Fromm never looked back, guiding the Dawgs all the way to the National Championship Game and leaving Eason with no choice but to transfer.

    T-4. 2006 QB Matthew Stafford — .9975
Though Stafford was eventually the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and has become a strong passer at the pro level, it’s possible that his career at Georgia was a bit underwhelming.

Still, he’s No. 4 on Georgia’s all-time list in both passing yards and touchdowns, throwing for 7,731 yards and 51 scores in three years (to go with 33 interceptions).

    6. 2008 WR A.J. Green — .9973
Green is one of the best receivers in the NFL, torching defenses for the Cincinnati Bengals. He was also a force during his college days, recording 166 catches for 2,619 yards and 23 touchdowns in his three years in Athens.

If he had stayed for a fourth year, he likely would have broken all of Georgia’s major receiving records, but the opportunity to be a first-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft (No. 4 overall) was too good to pass up.

    7. 2011 RB Isaiah Crowell — .9959

Though Crowell has carved out a nice NFL career as a member of the Cleveland Browns, his time in Georgia was cut short.

After running for 850 yards and five touchdowns as a freshman in 2011, Crowell was arrested on felony weapons charges and kicked off the team. He finished his college career at Alabama State, leaving what was once a promising Georgia career behind.

    8. 2018 RB Zamir White — .9957
White tore his ACL during his senior year of high school, but he’s still an incredible running back and should be a big part of the Bulldogs’ plans moving forward.

Whether he’s able to play in 2018 or has to take a redshirt remains to be seen, but the Dawgs should be just fine with all the other depth they have in their backfield.

    9. 2018 OL Jamaree Salyer (.9956)
Salyer is the highest-rated offensive linemen the Bulldogs have signed. That’s saying something for a program that produces 1,000-yard rushers seemingly year after year. It’s not easy to impress his high school coach, former NFL linebacker Chris Slade, but Slade gushed about Salyer’s talent and demeanor every chance he got.

    10. 2018 CB Tyson Campbell (.9944)
Georgia’s secondary depth took a major hit this offseason, and Campbell will have a chance to help fill it. The Dawgs have sent defensive backs to the NFL, but none has arrived in Athens with Campbell’s credentials.

More on the way in 2019?
    2019 WR Jadon Haselwood — .9983
There’s still a long way to go before Haselwood and fellow 5-star recruit Nolan Smith (see below) end up in Athens, but the Bulldogs’ 2019 class is shaping up to be just as special as the 2018 class.

Of course, Haselwood could still change his mind — as high school kids often do — but the Georgia native is committed to the Bulldogs. His score would place him No. 3 on this list.

    2019 DE Nolan Smith — .9965

Unlike Haselwood, Smith is not attending a Georgia high school, instead playing at IMG Academy in Florida.

He has offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Miami, Florida State, LSU and a number of other top programs, so we’ll have to wait and see if he sticks with his commitment to Georgia. His score would rank No. 8 on this list.
