    Democrat aide arrested Imran Awan

An IT aide for Debbie Wasserman Schultz was arrested Tuesday as he tried to leave the United States, Fox News reports.

Imran Awan was arrested at Dulles International Airport on bank fraud charges. He was fired by a group of House Democrats in March over his alleged participation in a criminal scheme, though he remained on Wasserman Schultz’s payroll until Tuesday.

Nothing to see here. Democrats are not suspected of treason. Focus on the stolen election, collusion, and impeachment. Trump's agenda must be stopped.

Re: Democrat aide arrested Imran Awan

According to the complain, Awan had bought a ticket to fly to Doha, Qatar and then Lahore, Pakistan, and had a return flight booked for January.

The FBI had seized smashed hard drives from Awan’s home.*

Awan, his wife Hina Alvi, along with several other related IT staffers had been under investigation since February,*Politico reported.*Officials accused them of stealing equipment from House members’ offices, along with committing other possible violations. Details about the investigation were vague at first.*Politico described the investigation in this way: “The employees allegedly stole equipment from members’ offices without their knowledge and committed serious, potentially illegal, violations of House IT policies.”

In March,*Fox News went into a little more detail, saying that at least five contractors, including Awan and his brothers Jamal and Abid Awan, were being investigated for possibly removing equipment from officers, including computers and servers.*Fox News reported in March*that the allegations included running a procurement scheme that involved buying equipment, then double-billing the House administrative office, and possibly having unauthorized access to the House computer system.*

According to Politico, Awan earned nearly $2 million since 2004 as an IT support staffer for House Democrats. Alvi began working for House Democrats in 2007 and earned more than $1.3 million since then. Their salaries were split among multiple lawmakers’ offices. None of the staffers under investigation had access to classified information, Politico reported.

Despite a six figure salary, Awan declared bankruptcy in 2012 with more than $1.1 million in debt,*Fox News reported.

Updated 3:34 PM ET, Wed July 26

Washington (CNN) Imran Awan, who has worked for several House Democrats, including Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, was arrested Tuesday on charges of bank fraud as he tried to leave the country, legal documents show.

FBI spokeswoman Lindsay Ram said FBI and US Capitol Police arrested Awan at Washington's Dulles International Airport as he attempted to travel to Pakistan. The complaint and affidavit against Awan accused him and his wife, Hina Alvi, of attempting to commit bank fraud by misrepresenting themselves on a loan for a rental property they had and then wiring the proceeds to two unnamed persons in Pakistan. Christopher Gowen, an attorney for Awan, said Schultz's office fired him after the arrest. David Damron, a spokesman for Wasserman Schultz, confirmed to CNN that Awan had worked in the Florida Democrat's office and had been fired.

Asked if Alvi, who the complaint refers to at length, had been charged, Gowen said, "Not yet." Awan, 37, of Lorton, Virginia, was a shared employee paid by more than a dozen Democratic House offices, congressional disbursement documents show, for January to March 2017, the most recent period for which data are available.

A report from BuzzFeed in early February said House staffers were under investigation for stealing equipment, and Politico reported Awan was one of those under investigation. Gowen said most offices ended their relationship with Awan, but that Wasserman Schultz's office continued to keep him on the payroll until the day of the arrest.

The complaint said that on March 5, Alvi took her three children out of school and went to Dulles International Airport to board a Qatari-bound flight on her way to Pakistan.

At the airport, customs authorities conducted a search of Alvi and the children's luggage and found slightly more than $12,000 in cash. A secondary search turned up cardboard boxes of household items and clothing. They were permitted to board the flight and have not returned to the US since. The FBI declined to offer further details about that day outside of what was in the complaint.

Awan, the complaint said, bought a flight that was headed to Qatar and then Pakistan on July 24. He was arrested at the airport as he attempted to take the flight, which his lawyer said he had purchased weeks prior.

Bill Miller, a spokesman for the US attorney's office in DC, said Awan was arraigned in US District Court on Tuesday and charged with one count of bank fraud. He pleaded not guilty and was released "pursuant to a high-intensity supervision program," Miller said.

Miller said Awan would have a curfew and a GPS monitor and that he could not go more than 50 miles away from his home and had to turn over his passports, according to the conditions of his release.

How does a capital hill IT staffer afford a heavy hitter like Christopher Gowen? And why would Gowen, who is a long time Clinton supporter (worked in WH for Bill, HRC Campaign), take this case?

My guess: The same reason DWS didn't fire him...

looks like he was making decent money - about $200k/year, plus his wife was making another $100K/year AND he has been accused of bank fraud. so maybe that fraud led to ill gotten gains that allow him to afford it.

But who knows - it is all speculation.

Re: Democrat aid arrested Imran Awan

Sometimes it is more fruitful to listen to what mainstream media ISNT saying:

Leading members of the establishment media are ignoring the months-long House IT scandal rocking congressional Democrats, even after the FBI’s investigation into the matter became public, and even after Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s top IT aide was arrested trying to flee to Pakistan after wiring almost $300,000 to the country.

As of Thursday morning, both the New York Times and Wall Street Journal have yet to report on the growing scandal surrounding several IT staffers employed by House Democrats, including Wasserman Schultz’s top IT aide, Imran Awan.

Other establishment media outlets are similarly refusing to tell the public about the growing scandal. MSNBC has given zero on-air coverage to the scandal. ABC News and NBC News’ national broadcasts have similarly given zero coverage to the scandal. CNN’s only on-air coverage of the scandal so far was a brief mention during the 6 a.m. ET hour Thursday.

As reported by The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Luke Rosiak — who for months has extensively covered the growing scandal — Awan was arrested on Monday as he attempted to flee the country to Pakistan after wiring almost $300,000 to the country. The FBI seized smashed hard drives from Awan’s home as part of the ongoing investigation. (RELATED: FBI Seized Smashed Hard Drives From Wasserman Schultz IT Aide’s Home)

The Pakistani-born Awan attempted to flee the country shortly after Rosiak’s report that he was the subject of an FBI investigation. Awan’s wife, who was also on congressional Democrats’ payroll, previously fled to Pakistan, as first reported by Rosiak.

Awan and members of his family received $4 million from the Democratic congressmen they were working for since 2010. Wasserman Schultz has been especially uncooperative with the probe into her staffers and even threatened the Capitol Police chief for gathering evidence. She refused to fire Awan until after he was arrested, even though Capitol Police had already revoked the Awans’ access to the congressional IT system in February 2017 in relation to a major security breach.

Current House IT aids fear the suspects are blackmailing Democratic members of Congress with their own data, based on the Democratic members’ inexplicable loyalty to the House IT staffers involved in the probe.

Despite the growing scandal, the establishment media has for months done its best to keep the public in the dark. That trend continued this week, even after Rosiak reported the existence of the FBI investigation, and even after Awan — a top Democratic staffer — was arrested trying to flee the country to Pakistan. (RELATED: House Dem IT Suspects Wanted Untraceable Payments — And Sure Enough, Millions Disappeared)

The Washington Post — whose motto is “Democracy dies in darkness” — kept its readers in the dark for months about the growing scandal. The Post published its first article on the House IT scandal Wednesday afternoon, noting Awan’s arrest for bank fraud.

For comparison, Rosiak has written more than 20 news stories on the scandal.

So... we have an IT staffer that obviously skirted laws, had access to TONS of info (both in House & DNC), was over $1m in debt, was RETAINED by DWS & others after they were comprised, DWS threatens law enforcement officers over the matter during an official business setting, tries to flee the country & is arrested... and is now represented by HRC's personal friend & long-time political ally?!?!?!?!?!?

Nothing to see here; nothing to report!!
