I'll say Virginia Tech.
Have any of those teams (other than Mizzou) held a #1 ranking?? SC may have at one point... can't remember...
Mizzou sorta/kinda got screwed (but not entirely) out of a NC in 1960... when they were 9-0 and ranked #1 going into final game of season. Kansas upset Mizzou in the game, but then had to forfeit due to using an ineligible player. So they ended the season 9-1 (which was later changed to 10-0). The inelligible player was an impact player... but whatever, we still lost the game.
Because of the loss... they dropped and beat Navy in Orange Bowl... officially ending the season 11-0.
Mizzou also held the #1 ranking for a short period (either 2007 or 2008) before being upset in Big 12 title game vs OU.
Having said that... we are a LONG WAY from our 2007-2008 days...
Thats right -- I forgot about MS in 2015...
Looking through our history, looks like 1950 peaked at #3 and 1977 (AP) peaked at #7 and 2007 at #7 (Harris or whatever)
Kentucky 41 - Louisville 38.
Andre Woodson.. I remember that year I was a Sophomore at Carolina. I believe it was a top 10 matchup (or close to it) between UK and USC.
That year was bananas, the game between UK and eventual NC LSU was awesome.
I'd vote Carolina then Miss State, justnbecause of in state talent.

Miami WR Lamar Thomas, the weeks before the 1993 Sugar Bowl national title game.
