Auburn fans, what is up with the assistant coaches not wanting to stay at Auburn? We got D. Craig from ya'll and the dude is good. Now, your OC goes to UConn at a greatly reduced pay.

    There's a major story here...

No major story unless you buy into the propaganda spun by uaters on the radio. Craig left because he didn't feel like he had any input into the offense. He wants to grow as a coach and become an OC and eventually a head coach. He couldn't do that at Auburn. It was mentioned in MULTIPLE places before the season that this would be the last year Lashlee would be at Auburn. He desperately needed to get out from under the shadow of Malzahn to actually grow as a coach. Sometimes paycuts are part of the game to further a persons career. He isn't the first coach to take a different job and take a paycut to do it. Everybody knows that Malzahn has to win big in 2017 and we are hoping Malzahn recognizes this and will hire the right OC to develop the offense and take it to the next level.

Thanks for the reply. I have read that about Craig. He wants to grow and develop into an OC, then HC and he couldn't do that at Auburn and that's why he went to LSU.

And actually, Lashlee is saying the same thing; that he wants his stamp on his offense. And it's costing him cash money to do that. I had the impression that Malzahn and Lashlee were attached at the hip and that they would be at the same place. Perhaps Lashlee was afraid of the ax next year. But to tell you the truth, Malzahn reminds me of Les Miles in that he wants to control his offense and he is going to do it his way and he isn't flexible about it. His defense is playing lights out but the offense is not consistent. I understand the injuries have caused some problems. But I also think that the way Pettaway plays, how can he not get injured? And that new Baylor QB may be just what Dr. Malzahn ordered to get well. Still, Malzahn appears to be just as stubborn as Les Miles.

From a newspaper close to Auburn:

Here’s the list of areas Lashlee, who was offensive coordinator at Auburn for each of Gus Malzahn’s four-year head coaching tenure, has worked: Arkansas and Auburn. That’s it, that’s the list.

So needless to say it was a bit of a surprise to learn Lashlee was leaving Auburn to become the offensive coordinator in the Northeast part of the country in Randy Edsall’s sequel of rebuilding the UConn football program.

However, UConn officials confirmed Wednesday night that Lashlee’s annual pay will decrease by over $250,000 for the 2017 season after agreeing to a three-year deal to recruit in an area of the country that he’s never been in charge of finding players before.

No way Briles ends up as Auburn OC........or any other position there.

I'm more interested in who Gus hires than who Butch hires for OC, Gus will most likely make a decent hire.

    No way on Briles.

Gus and Rhett had to part ways, anyone who follows Au knew this was happening earlier this season.

Apparently, a few big boosters control Auburn football. Gus might get fired if he doesn't win a title next season. They might be getting while the getting is good. The slave masters of AU are not known for their patience.
