Ivanka's dad won't release his tax returns

Romney says that is disqualifying - though Rmoney has been anti-Trump for awhile. Every Presidential candidate since at least 1980 has released some tax returns. Some only a couple, some a bunch but all of them have released them.

My guess is that Trump supporters don't care - just like they don't care about all his bloviations and obvious lack of understanding about how government works. For most people these is because he sounds like a talk radio host or a FoxNews anchor, and for Dr.SS because he has a hot daughter.

Perhaps Trump won't release his tax returns because he just doesn't make that much:

One of the enduring mysteries of Donald Trump is just how much wealth he has. Forbes pegs his net worth at $4.5 billion, while Bloomberg News puts it at $2.9 billion. The GOP front-runner himself has said he's "really rich."

Maybe, but Trump's income is low enough to qualify for a New York state property-tax break that most high-rollers don't get.

It's called the STAR program, which stands for the New York State School Tax Relief Program and has been around since 1997. It offers an approximately $300 annual benefit for those who qualify. Hundreds of thousands of New York homeowners get it.

Here's where it gets interesting for Trump: To be eligible for STAR, a married couple must have annual income of $500,000 or less. One wouldn't think a guy as rich as Trump claims to be would qualify, but records filed with the city's Department of Finance show he received a $302 STAR benefit on his latest property-tax bill for his Trump Tower penthouse on Fifth Avenue.

That means whatever his annual income is, it's less than $500,000. (The state defines income for STAR purposes as federal adjusted gross income minus the taxable amount of total distributions from annuities or individual retirement accounts.) And Trump would have to have declared his New York apartment as his primary residence and sent the state a copy of his federal income-tax return in order to qualify for the $302 tax break.
Personally I don't care if he made $1.00 or $1 billion, but could his ego handle him being exposed as making less than $500K/year? Will people taunt him on this, because we know he has trouble not responding to trolls and Elizabeth Warren.

DO you seriously believe he would make less than a half million a year?
For the record, I could care less about his tax returns.

As Hillary would say: "what possible difference does it make now?"

I have trouble remembering Ivanka's dad's name. But Ivanka is going to be Princess Ivanka when he gets elected.

If he is creative in how he moves his money, it is possible I suppose. It is more likely that his penthouse - that he lives in - is someone else's name that makes less than $500K. In any event can he handle being trolled by people just stating that he made less than $500K based on the tax break he got. My guess is he won't handle it too well.

I think most people don't care about his tax returns, but you and I both know it will be used against him if he doesn't release them. The precedent of releasing them is relatively new.

I think America is too angry to care about tax returns. Folks are over the BS. I feel all "V is for Vendetta".

That didn't end so well, and I suspect a Trump presidency would be an utter disaster for the country. Of course, I am not confident that a clinton presidency would be much better.

Pray tell, please tell us all about how government works.......

It is the driving force in this year's elections; government DOESN"T work, and people are sick of politicians off all stripes.......and ready to try an alternative, which they see as no worse than the current disaster..........

Re: Ivanka's dad won't release his tax returns

He doesn't have a clue as to foreign policy. He thinks the US ought to voluntarily default on debt, which can't happen constitutionally. Simply saying he is going to negotiate good deals, and that he is going to bring jobs back without any specifics makes a fine stump speech in the GOP primary filled with folks who believe what Rush Limbaugh tells them, but actually being president is a different story.

Now I think there is a possibility that Trump could surround himself with knowledgeable people who can provide constitutional guidance. If that happens, I think he has a possibility of being successful domestically. He isn't duty bound to a interest group or a political party. He is likely to work with democrats on some things and republicans on others. If he does that he could be a success domestically. Foreign policy wise, he will be a complete disaster, worse than Bush - which would be an Olympian feat.

The problem is being president isn't like running a reality show or being a rich guy getting into twitter wars with folks. You can insult your way only so far, and as president he would have to quit acting like the local talk radio shock jock and actually be respectful.

There is some talk that in his tax returns he has seriously undervalued several of his properties. If so, this is possibly (probably?) a reason why he is audited so often.

........as if the current occupant has a clue on foreign policy? I don't believe he thinks we should default. The current occupant "simply" said he would bring hope and change.......the change he advocated has happened to some degree, but hope left town long ago. The current occupant is the biggest reason that Trump is the Republican nominee....and he would reverse many of Obama's attempts to transform the nation.

He could very well find advisers and knowledgeable people to help him on foreign policy too. Since he's not for the elimination of the military and apologies to every adversary since Hiroshima, I don't see how you would agree with any foreign policy he would advocate to establish anyway. Trump is not going to surrender.

Trump has a much longer experience when it comes to executive leadership than either his opponent or the current occupant. Today's occupant has been the least respectful President the nation has had in over a century. Trump would have a hard time equaling Obama when it comes to being disrespectful to others........
