Or in some cases it's better to go pro. McAdoo was a lotto pick after his freshman year.

All of those guys will be making more money than you or me this year. Not a bad decision at all. No guarantee any would have been picked next year either.

I guess if money is the only thing you care about then go ahead. To go from a 1st rd pick as a freshmen to being forced to go to summer league and/or playing overseas is a big drop off

When talking about jobs, what is more important than the money? I'm not saying it's the only thing, but it's extremely important. If a kid who wasn't an athlete dropped out of college to take a job making $100k, we wouldn't say they were making a mistake.

Those jobs dont last forever either and we could list all kinds of stories where guys never had a backup plan or anything like that. While money is nice it is not the sole reason for taking a job. The average basketball professional career doesnt last more than 4 or 5 years. If you dont have any way to have a career after that it seems pointless. The fact is when you listen to the wrong people you get put into this situation. These guys didnt leave school to be playing basketball in Greece for the next 4 years

Then the mistake is not taking the job but rather squandering the income made from that job. If you play for 4 years and make $100K a year, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to resume your studies (1-2 years remaining) when you're playing days are over.
