    More free agent moves:

Vancouver signs Radim Vrbata to a 2-year deal.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/canucks...8848--nhl.html

Rangers agree to terms with F Nick Tarnasky.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/rangers...4150--nhl.html

Columbus keeps D David Savard and signs C Brian Gibbons from Pittsburgh.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/jackets...7280--nhl.html

None really big moves. Just minor signings, but given the scarcity of big names on the market this off-season, the moves have the potential to make an impact.

The kid sounds like a goon to me, lol. At least based on his production in the AHL. Don't know much about him.

I guess he could be an attempt to replace Dorsett's toughness.

Tarnasky seems like a 4th liner, maybe a 3rd, to me. The NHL experience could help him be a regular in the lineup. Do you think NY could use him on the PK, maybe as a scoring threat?

I'm not sure I'd go that far. 4th line at best. The Rangers PK was not all Boyle and it was stellar. Should be fine. I think Moore takes over for Boyle for PK center because he is strong on face offs.

Rangers PK is always strong, will always be strong. Moore's been great, I agree. He's deserving of playing time on the PK.

I don't know much about Taransky, but if I'd make a project is he'll become a Craig Adams-type player. A guy who is gritty that plays tough and isn't afraid to get his face dirty. We'll see though. I may be talking out my @$$.

I agree he can be. Probably fill in on the 4th line.

At this point, how do you see the Rangers this fall, GMan? They had a great run to the Final in 2013. Do you think it will carry over to begin 2014? Any setbacks? What are your expectations for the team? How do you believe AV will adjust in his second season?

    Re: 2014 NHL Off-Season Thread

St. Louis brings back Steve Ott:

Leafs sign F Trevor Smith and D Rinat Valiev:

    http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=725980

Indications are bringing back Ott was not a good idea. What do you think, RollTide?
