Tuesday night at Baum Stadium, Arkansas broke open a 7-7 tie and promptly outscored Memphis 9-0 in the last 5 innings for a 16-7 shelling of the Tigers. I lost count of the home runs after the 6th inning.
The teams moved to North Little Rock's Dickey Stephens Park for Wednesday's game. Razorback Casey Murphy pitched a one hit 7 1/3 innings, facing only one batter over the minimum. That one hit came on a sneak bunt in which the batter barely beat the throw. He was subsequently picked off on first base by Murphy. Josh Alberius came on for the last 5 outs which he sat down in perfect order. A total of 28 batters came to the plate for Memphis. The difference in the game was a single swing of Chad Red Power Ranger Spanberger's villain stick in which he launched one over the street into the Arkansas River with one man on base. Final score 2-0. Memphis pitched their Friday night ace in real hopes of getting the win over Arkansas, and he was solid, as he kept the Razobacks from getting the timely hits, stranding 8 or 10 runners.
The Razorbacks are currently 5th in the NCAA in home runs. Pretty much the whole line up can knock it out of the park. Chad Spanberger leads with like 9 or 10. He crushes the ball big league style. There is definitely a spot in a major league lineup for the Power Ranger.
The Hogs now travel to Auburn for a series that is big for the top of SEC standings this weekend.
