These days it's even taking me longer to kick it into basketball mode. Being a Vandy fan, it used to be that come November the only thing we had left to play for in football was holding out hope to beat Tennessee. So I was ready for basketball. But now we're playing for bowl games and bowl positioning and basketball takes a back seat until that is finished. That even happened last year when Vandy bball had high expectations, so it's not just this year when the bball expectations are lower.
I do enjoy the tournaments during Thanksgiving and the 24 hour tip off thing though. I just think it all gets overshadowed by a big majority of the nation because college football is going on, definitely in the southeast. Like hunkerdown said, there's a lot of people who don't even care about college basketball until February and March.
In all honesty, college basketball becomes big on the national scale once those occasional Sunday games fire up after the Super Bowl.
It's just a sad fact of life.
