Georgia got good news Tuesday, the start of a key recruiting stretch. Linebacker Juwan Taylor of Hallandale (Fla.) High committed to Georgia, calling it his “dream school.”

Taylor (6-foot-2, 190) is the ninth player committed to the Bulldogs for the class of 2015. He is also the seventh defensive player committed to Georgia. Taylor’s news comes at the start of a two-week recruiting camp period that will see lots of high-level recruiting foot traffic through Athens.

“I talked to my family about it, and they told me it was on me. I felt I was ready. I knew Georgia is the school I want to be at, so I was ready to commit,” Taylor said.

Taylor, who is not ranked by Scout.com, said he committed to Georgia linebackers coach Mike Ekeler and defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. Taylor said he “made their day” with the news.

“You cannot pass up a great opportunity like this,” he said. “It has been my dream school, so I am happy about my commitment to Georgia. I always wanted to have a ‘G’ on my helmet.”

Georgia is ranked 10th in the country in recruiting by Scout.com.

But the number of committed players (nine) is the top reason the Bulldogs are not ranked higher. Alabama is currently ranked No. 1 by Scout.com , but has nine more players committed than Georgia. Clemson, with 19 commitments, has the most committed players in the country and are ranked No. 5 in the country.

Dawgs land a fast riser in Taylor

Georgia is looking for linebackers in the 2015 class and got a good one on Tuesday inJuwan Taylor of Hallandale, Fla. Taylor, 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, chose UGA over offers from Clemson, LSU and Tennessee among others.

247 national experts agree Taylor is one on the rise.

Barton Simmons, National Recruiting Analyst:“Taylor is a linebacker that has been on the rise this spring both with his ranking and with his recruitment. He’s got good length, he really plays well in space and he’s patient. That’s a rare quality to have in a linebacker, the patience to see the play develop and attack. With the way he has emerged this spring, we’re anxious to see what kind of senior tape he puts together.”

Steve Wiltfong, Director of Recruiting: ““He is around the football, which is what you want to see out of your Mike linebacker. The thing I am excited about with this kid is that is shows you that when these coaches go out on the road that they are looking for players. They are not just chasing stars, they are in the trenches looking at every nook and cranny looking for talent. Georgia goes to one of the most talent-rich parts of the country and find a linebacker that no one knows about and they go on him first.”

Very athletic LB in the mold of Alec Ogletree. UGA was his first big offer and many more have been pouring in since with LSU probably being the biggest. Really great get IMO.
