Kirk Herbstreit tweets:

"What in the WORLD is Jameis Winston thinking?!? With everything they he experienced in the past yr, both good/bad--why would he do this?!"

well maybe he was thinking - if I can get away with sexual assault, who is gonna care if I snag some crab cakes.

Did Publix profile poor Jameis just because he was Black? Does store security observe all customers this closely? Why aren't Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton rushing to stamp out this victimization of a young Black man? Publix must be a racist institution that should be permanently banned from ever doing business in Florida!

They are saying now that he walked past the checkout counters, paused until the security guy wasn't looking, then exited behind the security guy. People at the checkout saw him and thought he was just going for a shopping cart, but he kept walking. Nobody forgets to pay at a grocery store.

It was under Bowden, and continues under Fisher. this guy is an embarrassment to all of college football. yet his lack of character, criminal behavior, and entitlement is supported by, not just the football program and the university, but the entire community.

He was issued a citation that required him to do 20 hours of community service. He did that time, and was reinstated after that. What else should they do?

Damn. You're strict. That's almost 1 year for every dollar the crab legs were worth.

What garbage! If any other citizen commits this crime, they receive jail time. Go figure this ****ing clown would get off the hook. Athletes need to STOP receiving preferential treatment when it comes to breaking laws...

Where do you live that they lock you up for shoplifting $32 worth of something?

Look, I'm not saying what he did was ok. It's ****ing stupid. He needs to pull his head out of his ass and start making better decisions. But he shoplifted $32 worth of food. Under the law, he was issued the proper citation and did the community service.

Not like he got popped with coke and weed in the car in his old college stomping grounds and got off with no jail time, which we KNOW would never happen to a regular citizen.
