Since 2005, their NCAAT performance:

Births: 43 (10 more than ANY other conference)
Final Fours: 4
National Champions: 0

This year, I know a 6-5 SEC team (UK) destroyed UofL at Louisville and Notre Dame at Freedom.
UT beat Villanova and Pitt.

Just curious on some thoughts...I know a UT fan and I agreed a few weeks ago it was at least a little overrated

It probably is a little overrated... but the teams in that conference also play teams at that level on a consistent basis in February and March. UK and UT are good teams in the SEC, so it isn't impossible for us to beat and even embarrass decent to good teams from the Big East on a one game basis. I wouldn't like UK's chances at a winning record in the Big East this year though.

The Big East definitely is overrate in the ESPN idea that they are the greatest conference of the best teams to ever walk the planet. Nova has been a few points from losing to 15 seeds the last few years. The Big East seems to suffer from "opponent quality disorder". If they think they are playing an inferior team then they decided to take the night off.

UGA went into Double OT with Notre Dame and should have won, with Trey Thompkins at like 60%. Yes they are overrated.

Yea as a conference it is probably a little overrated at the least.

Yeah they are. But they are still probably the best conference for having a good depth of quality basketball.

Day One:

(4) Louisville falls to (13) Morehead State 64-63
(3) Connecticut beats (14) Bucknell 81-52
(6) St. John's falls to (11) Gonzaga 86-71
(6) Cincinnati beats (11) Missouri 78-63
(5) W. Virginia beats (12) Clemson 84-76
(1) Pitt beats (16) UNC-Asheville by a score of it's a 16 seed vs. a 1 seed

Not exactly an awesome opening day for the NBA D-League.

I hear they beat up on each other in conference play....

It's basketball, there ain't much beating up to be had.

I do think Clemson would have won that game without the stupid First Four games.

ahh maybe.

WVU shot very well and really didn't make many mistakes. We had a shot in the end if the call would have went our way and we wouldn't have gotten sloppy with our passing.

But yeah, if you're going to do this "First Four" thing, it would make sense to put them in the same city as the regional and not to schedule the winner of the last play in game as the very first game of the tournament.

(9) Villanova falls to (8) George Mason, 61-57
(2) Notre Dame beats (15) Akron, 69-56 (It was actually closer than that in reality)

These first round games don't show anything of the BE being weak IMO. When you have 11 teams in some people will lose. Cincy and UConn are even playing each other tomorrow.

I understand that this was almost unavoidable, but it's still garbage.

Why do you say that's garbage? What other BE teams should've played this early, since it was bound to happen.

I just think teams from the same conference shouldn't play each other until the sweet 16. These two teams have already played each other. I'm just not a fan of repeat games this early.

It's all a part of having a "super conference" I suppose.

Georgetown gets crushed by VCU, 6-4. Would appear to be going to 7-4 with Syracuse leading Indiana St.

9-8 after Syracuse falls to Marquette. Only 2 teams in the Sweet Sixteen currently, meaning the city of Richmond, Virginia...has as many teams in the Sweet 16 as the BEAST

And Notre Dame falls to Florida State (a team that lost to Auburn), bringing the Big East to 9-9 for the NCAA Tournament....TWO teams from the Big East advance to the Sweet 16.
