TCU plays no one.

And that's a good reason to root against them in a glorified exhibition? Again, I don't see the logic behind it. In the regular season if they were in the running for #1 I could see it.

SECgamecock453

And even if this game stays close, it's just one game. Put TCU in the Big 10 or SEC where they have to play good teams every week and they wouldn't last. You can't judge this team based on this ONE GAME. It has to be a season-long endurance contest in a TOUGH conference to show how good a team is.

So now we have to pull for a lower tier conference team? Man...where do these rules come from?!

SECgamecock453
01-01-2011, 06:07 PM
The SEC wears you down throughout the season. Being in the MWC is like playing a high school scout team every week. Hell they could probably rest some of their best players for most of their conference games and still win convincingly. Wisconsin is probably more physically beat right now just due to the course of the season than TCU is, and of course they can get up for this one game because they haven't played anyone like Wisconsin all year.

TCU does not bother me near as much as Boise. TCU has Texas athletes and Southern-style playmakers on offense and defense. They beat Boise last year and send more players to the NFL than Boise. They are more real, but not national title contenders.

Wisconsin's play action pass is brutal, if TCU has to load up 9 guys the PA pass to Toon and the TE's will be there all day.

TCUs offense is rolling tho, Wisky does not have the speed to match them spread out throwing the ball around.

Who does Boise play thats better than who TCU plays? For one, the MWC has proven to be a better conference recently than the WAC, and TCU played Baylor and Oregon State plus a Utah team that was Top 5 at the time, BYU, SMU, and a REALLY good San Diego State team.

James Madison is an FCS school. Virginia Tech losing to them is not even remotely comparable to a mediocre Georgia team flying cross country and losing a close game to a Big XII school. (Albeit a s***** one.)

I hate that argument. ANY team can beat a good team with:
a month to gameplan
a whole season full of cupcakes that keeps their team healthy while an SEC team or a Big XII team has to deal with tons of injuries and fatigue

Its impossible to tell how good a team REALLY is until they play tough, physical teams back to back.

Boise will never and should never compete for a title until they play great teams more than once a year

James Madison is an FCS school. Virginia Tech losing to them is not even remotely comparable to a mediocre Georgia team flying cross country and losing a close game to a Big XII school. (Albeit a s***** one.)

Sorry, when your best wins are Maryland and Florida State and you lost to an FCS school, I'm not that impressed. They're not bad, but they're not that good either.

Wow, so excuses are fine for UGA but not VT.
VT had a VERY short week (played Boise on a late Monday night and had to play JMU on a Saturday), a huge letdown after letting Boise slip by them, and lost in a very close game that saw VT commit six turnovers and fumble late in the 4th quarter when they were ahead and going to win the game.

Maryland is a good team, NC State RAILED West Va., FSU JUST BEAT THE SEC EAST CHAMP USC, plus wins over Miami, a decent GT team that almost beat UGA, UNC that beat UT, and a decent BC team.

VT has won TEN straight games, I dont think they are top 5 but to say they aren't good is pretty bold and wrong

Quick, name 5 other teams on a 10-game winning streak.

Oh I forgot, you cant, because only Oregon, Auburn, and TCU have won more straight games than VT.

Boise will never and should never compete for a title until they play great teams more than once a year

was Appalachian State a better team than Michigan in 07?
If it happens once you can write it off to being a fluke. Boise State has beaten the big boys when they've played them on numerous occasions. For that reason, they've earned my respect. You can make the "any team can get up for one game" argument, but I don't see other WAC schools consistently going out and whacking top 25 teams from power conferences the way Boise has been able to.

Whether or not they would be able to hold up if they had to play an SEC schedule is a red herring.

TCU d is still looking great, but they haven't scored since the first drive in the 3rd qtr.

they don't have the balance on both sides of the ball like 'Bama.

I think a better comparison is LSU at this point...

I'm not making excuses, I'm saying your comparison is ridiculous. You can't compare a 6-7 team losing a road game versus a 4-8 Big XII to an 11-2 team losing to an FCS school. Virginia Tech's loss in question was much more egregious than Georgia's.

And by big boys do you mean VT this year and OK a few years back?

I think the Boise offense is very special, but not their D.
Looks like TCU is the exact opposite.

and is Wisconsin's DC a moron? Why in the world are they still giving TCU's WRs so much cushion? Its killed them all day long and yet they keep playing 6-7 yards off the WRs.

No, its not. Good teams lose to teams they should beat all the time. I cant believe this is even an issue.
Is Kentucky better than South Carolina?

VT was without Ryan Williams, had 6 turnovers and basically gave the game away. The point is that one loss does not define a team. Especially a team that has won 10 straight games against good teams.

My comparison is to show that sometimes, good teams lose to bad teams but that does not mean a team sucks. Wisconsin lost to a bad MSU team that Bama beat by 6 TD's, did they not deserve to be ranked top 5?
FCS/FBS is not a huge distinction any more, the level of athletes in the FCS is not that much below the FBS any more. ASU/Michigan, hell even the SEC has fell victim to the FCS with Jackson State beating OM.

To say VT is not good right now because they lost by 5 points to a decent team after a short practice week, six turnovers, and a huge letdown in SEPTEMBER is pretty ridiculous

The Orange Bowl?

and TCU wins, just an excellent game. TCU proved to be a great team. They would not beat Auburn or Oregon but they played very well and shut down that vaunted Wisconsin offense, holding them to 19 points

So winning a BCS game is not winning a game of national significance?
I guess the Boise State win you trumpeted earlier means nothing too.

but this puts an end on the worst day in Big 10 bowl history.
Lost 5 games, with the Big 10 co champ losing to the 3rd best team in teh SEC WEST by 6 TD's and Michigan giving up 52 points to Miss. State's offense.

the Big 10 was outscored 206-99 today, losing by an average margin of 21.4 points per game

Oh yeah, Bama had a ton of injuries to key players this year. If Ingram, Julio, Trent, Dareus, etc would have been healthy they would have played for the NC.

I may just do that. 2 years ago I brought the entire family over. Even with a 1 year old it was epic. First season in the new Sarge. No way I was missing that.
