They couldn't just break it up regionally and call it North/South or East/West?

my biggest problem is that they have Joe Paterno's name on the trophy. Hello, PSU has only been in the big 10 for like 20 years

Have the divisions been announced yet?

With no geographical ties to the divisions they literally could have named them anything and they chose "Legends and Leaders"? Sounds like they did a drawing from elementary school kids that put their entries in a hat. Awful.

Have the divisions been announced yet?yes

With Nebraska becoming the conference's 12th team earlier this year, the conference created new divisions that it introduced in September. Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin will be in the Leaders Division, with Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern in the Legends Division.

"Ohio State is currently the division leader of... the Leaders. Scratch that, Ohio State is leading the Leaders Division. Okay.... No. Ohio State has a 1 game lead on the rest of the Leaders. Damn it."

On PTI they just suggested to name them the "Schembechler" and "Hayes" divisions. That is definitely MUCH better than what they have come up with.

Atlantic and Coastal is leaps and bounds better than "Leaders" and "Legends", that is just horribly bad. Though with the ACC I can never remember the damn divisions because isn't Atlantic and Coastal the same damn thing?

Ah, the joke didn't get across. I just meant that the Big 10 can't count numbers. (ie. 11 and now 12 team Big10 conference) :)

Well, you know that SEC isn't perfect with the East/West thing since Nashville and Lexington are west of Knoxville.

You do realize that UT (Knoxville) is in the east division as well.

Now, if you had mentioned that Nashville and Lexington are west of Auburn, you would have been on target - but I guess that would have been too much to expect from a tater...

I think the only geographical miscue you could find in the SEC divisions is that Auburn is East of Nashville. Pretty sure Lexington is more East than Nashville.

It looks like you are right. After a quick look it appears that Nashville is about 70 miles west of Auburn, which is about 60 miles west of Lexington - give or take a couple of miles.

Tuesday night on ESPN Radio they said that it reeks of focus group testing!

But at least the West starts at the western edge of the SEC states: Louisiana and Arkansas on the western border and then Mississippi and Alabama while the East starts at the eastern shore of the conference and moves inland: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina along the coast and then Tennessee and Kentucky.

Granted East and West isn't very creative but neither is the NFL with all four compass points as division names. But Leaders and Legends? Please!

And at least all of our states border each other. The ACC goes from Miami to Boston..

Well, the Atlantic coast of the US goes from Key West to Maine, so it seems that the ACC is still within their geographical boundaries.

Yeah but it's still weird to me how isolated Boston College is. And yes, I realize what the Atlantic Coast is, thanks for reminding me though.

Georgia Guy and Dayman or SECGamecock543 or whatever he goes by now more than make up for that with their constant pessimism about their teams.
