Odd move geographically, but a good move for them. They will be in a BCS conference and one that they can probably dominate.

This was a slick move by the Big East. TCU's 4 year history will count in the BCS evaluation, thereby preventing the Big East from being booted from the BCS

Good move for TCU, they become an AQ and will probably dominate the BE like W&D said. BE also serves it own interests by strengthening its conference for the evaluation AND weakening the MWC, the most likely conference to become an AQ.

I'm not sold on it geographically. Thats a long trip for Syracuse's womens soccer team to make.

They need to dump some basketball schools though. 17 is way too many.

I never liked the Big East conference. It was originally put together solely to give a bunch of independent basketball powers a safer route to the NCAA tourney. It doesn't even have the same schools in its football and basketball configurations. That is no conference, its a marriage of convenience...

Why is this in the SEC Football forum?

Why wouldn't the former Big 12(lite) extend an offer to TCU? This is frickin retarded for going to a conference so geographically unfit.

Did you see how well the Big12 handled this the first time around? You can't expect them to make any kind of smart move. Texas is doing all it can to hold that conference together and the other teams are just waiting for an opportunity to jump ship. The Big12 is doomed.

Why would the Big 12 add them? They have trouble selling out their 50K seat stadium when they are undefeated - they had only 6 home games this year and sold out 3 of them. The fanbase is small - as it is a small school. Considering the ONLY thing they would add is a mediocre athletic department, why would the Big 12 be interested?

That sounds like half the teams in the Big XII. Funny that TCU is joining the Big East since Ft Worth is considered to be the gateway of the west or something.

It would be easier selling tickets when Texas and Oklahoma are coming to town opposed to New Mexico and Colorado State.

Good move for the big east, they now have another big recruiting ground and another big market.

Yes it would be easier. But Texas and OU gain NOTHING from adding them. The Big 12 already owns the Dallas/FW market.

They gain dignity because their current schedule is LOL compared to an SEC schedule.

The Big XII should grab TCU and BYU. Get their conference back to 12.

Boise Fake should pay attention. That's how you improve your conference when making a move.

Geographically it makes no sense but overall I'd say it's a smart move for both the Big East and TCU.

Won't this basically leave the MWC with just Boise now? :rotf:

Yep and I wonder how long it will be before they jump ship?

TCU wants to be in a BCS conference and the Big Easy needs them to keep their BCS status.

Band-aid fix. TCU is this year's Louisville. What are they gonna do when TCU is back to their usual below average self?

over the last decade, their highs have definitely outweighed their lows. And it's not like their going to play in the SEC or Big 10, they should fair pretty well in the Big East.

On the one hand, I can't help but think that TCU is just a little chickenchit for doing this. They belong in the Big 12, but they don't want to compete with their former SWC rivals TAM, OK St, Baylor, TTech, Texas, or Oklahoma. And yet, they consistently say that they are as good or better, if so, why not prove it instead of going to a pansy conference like the Big East.

On the other hand, why would they go to a conference that will be disbanded in less than 10 years, and that even snubbed them a few years back. Wish they would have taken the slot left for Texas in the Pac 10.

TCU and SMU should be in the Big XII. This is a disgrace.

I heard that the Big 12 was bringing in Texas State and Arkansas State...

While all of that is probably true you got to go with who offers you. I'd say it's fairly obvious the Big 12 didn't offer or they would have gone and the Big East did. Might as well take what you can get when you can get it.
