By giving Randy Shannon a new 4 year extension, something they don't have the money to buy their way out of, they have helped Florida's effort to stay entrenched as the powerhouse in the state of Florida these days. Thanks, Miami. Suckers :rotf: :rotf:

Their win total has improved the last 3 years under Shannon. They are only getting better. Be careful what you wish for.

Shannon is mediocre at best, a complete buffoon at worst. This is definitely good for the Gators.

I think Shannon is doing quite well down there. I believe shannon will have Miami back contending for championships LONG before Fisher does at Felony state.

Write it down, take a picture. Miami has improved in the worst BCS conference in college football. And still they can't do much and have no real high quality wins. Where is the big victory over an elite program? How can you be back if you can't beat a real elite team? Is the standard for them that low now? Shannon's mismanagement of games will cost them 2 or 3 games a year. Their recruiting has not been that great outside of the year Miami Northwestern sent them like 7 guys. When Harris and company graduate, they are not in good shape. If those guys leave early this year, they are in worse shape. I'll take my chances with Meyer v Shannon LOL

I agree..good news for UF...shannon is not a good head coach.

They were stupid to get rid of Coker.

Yeah firing Coker wasn't dumb. Hiring Shannon and keeping him was.

5-7, 7-6 and 9-4... he is 21-17 in the freaking ACC. How many here would want their coach getting an extension for 21-17 in the SEC? We're talking about in the freaking ACC and that is the best he could do. They don't lack for talent either.

They're certainly better with Shannon than where they were going with Larry Coker.

Shannon may not be the best for Miami, but he's better than what was going to continue happening with Coker...

I'm sure there's a clause in it. Gus Malzahn will be their next coach, book it!

I liked Coker, he just needed to hire someone to keep the talent rolling in.

On that front he failed.

Now they have the talent, but lack the coaching. LOL.

he is 21-17

Shannon isn't as good as Coker.

LINK (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/teams/schedule?teamId=2390&year=2006)

Coker was 25-12 his last 3 years. His worst years btw.

He had one "horrible" year, his last going 7-6.

Every other year he had at least 9 wins, including beating UF twice during his tenure.

Also you can't exactly look over the 2001 NC.

Shannon's better? LOL what has he won as the HC?

Coker tied Walter Camp for the best record by a college football head coach in his first 32 games (31–1).

I guess delusional Miami fans expected that to last forever.

It seems some of you also have unrealistic expectations for Miami.

Shannon can't tote Larry Coker's jock.

For me Shannon do great job, show great caliber and under him players are improving their performance. . .

I am not sure what to say about that statement.

Florida owns the state of Florida in every way with Meyer coaching during the same tenure as Shannon, basically. Miami has had steady improvement but they are the most talented team in a bad conference. 9-4 is hardly memorable given those circumstances. 9-4 in the SEC would be respectable. In the ACC its mediocrity.

Yeah, but I think you might be biased. From your post, I think you might just be a UM grad...
