Kenny
Boynton, Jr. (http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=43305&season=2009) Fla

Daniel Orton would have made it if he hadn't been hurt all year and I believe Vandys John Jenkins should have made it as well.

Hopefully two, we are waiting on Renardo Sidney's decision. Another site I'm on says that he's down to Mississippi State, USC and UCLA. He's supposed to make a decision this weekend.

For some reason I don't think we will get him but Stans has a way with recruiting so I hope I'm wrong.

I really think John Jenkins is gonna be a stud for Vandy. He is lighting up the high school competition averaging more than 40 a game. His jumpshot is lethal, too.

The Wear twins getting in proved to me how political the selection process is...

VC, why so? I am not familiar with the controversy/story line on the Wear twins.

Just that both are ranked in the lower half of a lot of people's top 100 list, but since they're committed to North Carolina, it just helps the games' ratings I guess.

Well, the SEC's best player this year, Jodie Meeks, was a McDonald's AA snub, and he's used that to be in the running for First Team All-American.

I like having Jon Hood on board. I hope that Jodie returns next year, because he could take Jon under his wing, and really speed Jon's progress.

John Jenkins leads the nation in scoring over 42 a game, and led the Lebron summer camp in scoring last summer, but he didn't have the right guys behind him on the selection committee. What a sham the selection process is.

IT seems like this list reads from the "5 star" list at the scout sites, so Jenkins not getting on the team isn't shocking, especially since he falls under the East, which is always loaded seemingly. Mistakes are made often, it's up to Jenkins to prove it was a mistake, but you really can't fault the selection committee with whom they chose.

Sorry but....cough, cough, BS, cough, cough. Not debating if he deserved McD AA though...

Very talented players listed. Also, the players mentioned in this thread(Daniel Orton, John Jenkins, Jon Hood) and others are very talented as well.

Well I won't pretend to have the scoring stats on every high school in the nation, but multiple sources have quoted that stat including ESPN.

"Leads the nation in scoring at 42.8 ppg as a senior and has not had a game where he's scored less than 30 points or shot less than 50% from the field."

Yea KT no way to spin this against JJ and Vandy. He got robbed of the invite due to political BS. It is all about who you sign with not the best players. If he signed with NC or duke or UK...which he could have signed with anyone he wanted....he would have made it.

Complete BS. How the #1 shooter in the nation and top 35 player doesn't make it but players ranked close to 100 make it is idiotic. Oh well prove them wrong JJ.

I will give you the stat but ESPN has not shown to be the most informed when it comes to HS sports. The reason I find it hard to believe is that we have a player in MS that is avg over 40 points/game and he is not even going to be playing BB at the next level.

Somewhat surprised Reginald Buckner wasn't invited to play. Everything I've heard and read about him has him continually rising up the rankings for c/o 2009. Can't wait to get this guy on campus.

You act like he's the first guy rated around the 30-35 range that didn't make the cut... most people in that range don't make it whether they deserve it or not.

I know this is unchartered territory for Vandy, but that doesn't mean the selection committee is supposed to cave in just because you have a guy like this for the first time in a long time.

If Jenkins belongs, he'll prove it at Vandy... that's the outlook I took on Jodie, and I think it's clear they made a mistake, but there's no sense in complaining... it's not gonna change a single thing.

Jenkins WILL get a fifth star, and the way Meyer talked about him, may be in rivals top 20 when all is said and done.

And I love the fact that he's never show BELOW 50% in a game and averages 42 ppg.

Are you talking about the MSU guy in the recruiting forum who just had his 4th 50 point game??

Jenkins has 5 50+ point games.
1 60 point game
15 40+ games

Leads the nation in scoring until proven differently (and shoots 62% FG, 49% 3pt.)

I can't find the link, but I thought Orton was not eligible to be a McDonald's All-American because he was a fifth year HS player or something like that. He will be playing in the Jordan Brand Classic (http://www.nike.com/jumpman23/classic/2009jbc.html)even though he did not play a single game this year.

U must play atleast half of your highschool year to be eligible for the big mac game. Orton will be a 5 star player...

Yeah, Orton probably would have made the West All-star team, but oh well. McD AAs aren't all they're cracked up to be... we got 3 in 2004, and we've not recovered yet.

And...Said player is not going to play Div I BB and that is why I would think that the Nations leading scorer would be scoring more than 2 or so /game better. Having said this...as of right now, it looks that I am wrong and maybe we should be looking @ said player as a 3 sport star.

KT it has nothing to do with Vandy and why he deserves to be in. When recruiting analyst call him the best shooter in the nation in HS, and will be the best shooter in college the second he steps on the floor...I'm gonna expect him to be good. You obviously don't know anything about JJ, or you would be in agreement he deserved the bid alot more than many others that made the team. It really doesn't matter to me other than he said this was one of his goals for this season and he did more than enough to deserve it.

kentubbybasketball

Expect him to be good, but obviously the selection committee didn't concur, and that's what we're talking about, not what some recruiting analyst said... the recruited analyst also said that Jodie Meeks couldn't shoot... well, we know that was stupid.

And, apparently this does bother you... otherwise, you'd stop talking about a perceived snub.
