MSU starting sloppy...lots of turnovers and threes aren't falling. 10-5 Ark, 15:54.

State looking poor. 32-24, Arky...6:51.

So State has the best three-point shooter in the nation and yet he's only attempted 1 with 6:19 to go in the first half? What kinda offensive plan is that??

Dawg

State's defense is absolutely HORRIBLE thus far. Arkansas shooting WELL over 60%.

I wish I could have watched this game. I looked at the stats on my phone at the half and we were down 15, when I got home I didn't expect to see the comeback. Very good win, we have to take care of home court.

I had a good feeling even being down 15...we have been a strong 2nd half team alot of this year....I just figured it would be Ravern that started hitting the 3's.

Jarvis with another 7 block game. Good to see, he was getting 3 a game for a while there.

Yeah, I was suprised to see he only had taken 3 three's and made none. I'm glad to see us win without relying heavily on that though because there will be games like this when he isn't on.

And Phil Turner with 16 pts and 11 rebs. These are the type games Dietric Slater had for us when we played small, he's just as tough as Dietric, but a better athlete and shooter.

you also have to remember...along with Ravern not doing any scoring.....JV wasn't even in the game during the last part of the comeback or until at least the 6 min mark when we by that point had a 7pt lead.

WOW!!! Thats all I gotta say...I was there and it was so freaking loud...I was one of the ones in the upper part getting louder than most other people even when we were down...I was hoping and we just started draining the hell outta them! It was an amazing atmosphere and wow what a game! Go State!!!!!!:cheers:

I had zero confidence that we would keep the lead at the half. We have a decent starting five (outside of Sanchez, who is TERRIBLE). But, we have no depth whatsover, especially down low.

Washington and Fortson were dead-tired down the stretch and couldn't make the plays they did in the 1st half. Pelphrey MUST get a backup PG and more depth down low in recruiting or it's going to be more of the same next year.

It was just a matter of time that we'd cool off and when you're a bad 3 point defense you're eventually going to start giving up some 3's.

Good game by the Dawgs. They definitely have the makings of an NCAAT team.

Hopefully we can stay above .500 and get to the NIT. It'd be nice for our young team to get some postseason exposure.

So this is a good question I thought of...Who thinks that next year when we get Shaunessy Smith, that we could really play to our potential even more so than today...We'll have some depth if Jarvis doesn't leave, and Shaunessy is the slasher we've been needing...

Evaluation
September, 2008: Shaunessy Smith is perhaps the most under-the-radar, high talent player in the Class of 2009. He has incredible athletic abilities and very advanced guard skills. He actually can play both guard positions but will predominantly be at the second or off-guard position because of his excellent shooting and high scoring ability. As a junior, Smith was an All-State performer and averaged nearly 30 ppg., despite playing all season with a torn ligament in his right hip. In early May he had surgery to repair his hip and missed all of the summer basketball events. As a result very few have seen him play. According to his coach, T.J. Billups, Smith has recoved well and is back in the gym doing his hard workout and practice routines. He will get his final medical release on September 9. Coach Billups praises Smith's work ethic, and high level all-around game. He is an incredible scorer from mid-range, and a high percentage three-point marksman. Smith can shoot well with either hand, and is a fine ballhandler, passer, and playmaker. Observers in Mississippi say that he has the talent and upside to become a "future pro". Look for Smith to explode on the national scene this season. He had to tough it out playing with the hip injury last year. And now that he is 100% watch him go. Smith is a very low key, laid back young man off the court. But on the hardwood he is a fearless warrior, who rebounds, defends, scores, scrambles for loose balls, and does everything within his power to help his team win. He is a very unselfish, team-oriented player. His top schools now are Mississippi State, the school that has been on him the longest, Baylor, Mississippi, and Southern California. Do not be surprised if Smith is rated in the ESPNU 100 as he excels this season.

He put up 41 on Starkville High School who is no pushover...I think with him next year and more confidence and more experience next year, wow what could we possibly acheive? Anyway what a win guys and here's to hoping we keep this run going..We'll need it against LSU Wed. night..The Hump will be rocking just like it was today!
