I have a feeling we are due for a letdown, as well. But nothing would surprise me with the way the team is playing right now. I'm just happy I'll be able to watch.

I found a babysitter so I may go the game tonight. I'm really hoping Florida doesn't choke this one away again ... I haven't been to a game in a while. I'm looking forward to it. :)

I don't know how long we can keep up this winning, especially with our horrible free throw shooting. And we're winning these big games by VERY close margins (Florida, Kentucky, and Baylor wins were all won by 1 point). There is no way we can keep winning games like this if we can't even close out a game with free throws, it will eventually come to that.

BIG shot by Devan at the half. We need to play smarter in the second, though.

49-45 UF but I still think it is anyone's game.

This is maybe the most fun game I have watched in a while. Both teams keep converting when they need a basket. I thought UF had a chance there to pull away some but Downey is such a good shooter. When does that kid go pro? LOL

I love Erving Walker, by the way. I remember some here questioned Donovan taking him because of his height. This kid is a player. Plain and simple.

When his eligibility is done, for the same reason you love Walker. Too short to go early. :)

This game has been a lot of fun - but it seems like Carolina is playing a bit careless/sloppy...you agree GM?

We can play a LOT better than we played in the 1st half....losing both Holmes and Muldrow to 2 fouls each early in the game threw us out of our rhythm, and forced Horn to fabricate a unit for a while (Steed also got 2 fouls later in the 2nd half.....our top 3 big men).

Despite this, we out-rebounded UF. I think we will respond in the 2nd half, with our original 5 together again. It will be an exciting half of basketball!

fo, both teams have played sloppy at times. with a pace like this, if not for some sloppy play both would score around 200 LOL

by the way, the officiating in this league is so bad. it doesnt favor any team. it goes both ways in any given game. its just so bad. im not complaining that its hurting UF. it hurts both. its just ridiculous that year after year the level of officiating is so poor.

We killed ourselves with the rampant fouls and the pitiful FT shooting.....Downey was heroic to keep it close in the closing seconds, but if we were even mediocre at the FT line, we would've won this game. Instead, we were much, much worse than mediocre, and gave the game away. I knew it would rear up and bite us in a crucial game, and it did.....

I wouldn't put it all on FTs. When Devan went out with his fourth UF went 8-1 and that was the difference in the game. Holmes, Muldrow, and Steed all being in fould trouble along with Downey is what cost us the game, though FT shooting was certainly a factor.

The FTs were terrible too, I think it was about at 6 minutes or so when we missed 5 straight which changed the complexion a lot in what was a tie game at that point.

But we were a far better team with Holmes and Muldrow in, and if they hadn't been in foul trouble I think we would have won. When Downey picked up his fourth, that was just too much for the team to handle I think.

One of the best games I have seen in the last couple of years. Downey's heroics took that game to another level. There is something about one guy putting a team on his back. I am just glad we won. We needed this one more, actually. Now we have to have the game in Lexington. Losing this game with a road game against UK might have brought up a here we go again feeling. But they toughed it out against a good Carolina team.

Good game. I was really proud of the effort they gave. The free throw shooting HAS to improve. We don't have the talent that Memphis had last year where you can miss FTs all day long and still win. Get that corrected and I think this team has potential to win a game or 2 in the dance.

I don't know ... our fans suck I guess. I managed to make it yesterday. It could be because many Florida fans (the ones that fill up the Swamp) reside in other towns besides Gainesville and don't want to make the trip from Orlando, Tampa, and Jax on a week night .... as for the ones that live here, I guess they just don't wanna come out to support this team.

Right, Babe. A lot of the old timers and family folks down south can't make these 9:00 pm weekday games. A 3 hour drive puts them home between 2:00 and 3:00 AM. UF is getting a ticket exchange program off the ground where ticket holders that can't make games can give they're tix away on line. Until that happens, there is going to be a problem with attendance.

GatorMan32
02-04-2009, 02:32 PM
yeah, those seats are sold, but people dont travel in for 9 pm week night games. yes UK fans, i know. your fans would travel 2000 miles to make the game. that ticket exchange would do a world of good.
