He'd be stupid not to try and stay. He wants to play in South Africa in '10, and playing for Milan will make him a much more attractive option for Capello/England than festering away on a bad team in a mediocre league.

that would suck for the MLS......

On a somewhat related note, DC United's designated player (Marcelo Gallardo) of Argentina who signed the biggest contract in club history last summer is rumored to be moving back to River Plate in Argentina after just one season.

As a futbol nut, I recognize the MLS is nowhere near being a great league.. but I support it. And these two bits are NOT good news for the league.

The MLS will always be a third tier league. LA should take advantage of the situation and sell Beckham, they will make some good money off of the transfer.

And it's never really good to have a player when you know his heart isn't in it.

how do you recoup for a guy you paid 250 million for?......LOL

They didn't give him $250m up front, Storm. :rotf:

Milan would have to buy him from LA, then he would negotiate a new contract.

Arena said today he expects Beckham back after his two month loan to San Siro is over. Wishful thinking?

I have to imagine Bruce and the Galaxy ownership realize that keeping Beckham in the MLS when he obviously doesn't want to be there anymore is not a good idea.

For those interested and with Fox Soccer Channel (I think that means me & Vinny)... Milan vs. Lazio at 2:30 tomorrow. I'm looking forward to watching Becks play on a decent team again.

Yes I saw that. But first, in about twenty minutes my favorite Serie A team, mighty Juventus is on FSC. :)

I'll def be watching the Milan game.

Good for him. Hopefully LA will do the right thing and let him go if it's his will (which it seems to be).

Becks claimed his lawyers haven't spoken to Galaxy.

I have to think LA will let this happen, they sold their jersey's and sold out a few games. It will be good for them to get out of that commitment and spend the money getting some quality players to actually play for an MLS title.

Seeing Becks finish out his career with a great side like AC Milan and have one more run at a World Cup in 2010 would be a better outcome for the game all around.

Looks like Milan is willing to pay $4.5 million to effect the transfer. Arenas seems more open to the move than previously. Or should I say he seems more resigned to it.

Galaxy will let him move if he agrees to return to the Galaxy after the 2010 World Cup.

Milan made an official offer which the Galaxy promptly rejected. The Milan boss said they are still far off from each other, but still have a month to work it out.

I'm a little worried Milan overplayed their hand with all the talk about how valuable he has been since joining their side. Galaxy (rightfully) will now try to gouge them for every penny and this will drag out till the last second. I watched Milan's game Sunday and Becks def. looked very solid.

They have a big match with Inter coming up later this week I think, Sunday maybe. I'll have to check that again. I will watch that and it will be my first chance to see Becks in Italy.

That will be a huge game, not just cause it's a Derby, but Inter has a strong lead in the Serie A while Juventus and Milan are battling it out for second position, 6 and 8 points back iirc. So a Milan win would help them and Juve to make this a race heading into the last couple months.

And yea, Milan might have been running their mouth a bit much over this. They wanted to offer around $5 mil but Galazy want something like $15 mil.

Beckham will probably never play in the MLS again.

Yeah I believe the derby is this weekend- Milan had someone (Flamini, maybe?) receive their 2nd yellow card in as many weeks on Saturday and you could see the horror on his face knowing that he was going to miss that match.

Becks crosses to Inzaghi were pretty deadly. Also, Ronaldinho looked fantastic- at one point he literally danced through 4 or 5 defenders just freezing them with his footwork but just missed the net with the shot.

It would be good to see Inter come back to the pack a little bit down the stretch. Right now, only the EPL is tight. Inter has a nice lead in Serie A and Barca is a full 12 points up on 2nd place Real in La Liga.

I was watching the replay of Sunday's Juventus - Catania match today and they mentioned that Kaka would likely miss the Inter game.

MLS commish & Galaxy are "tired" of the ongoing saga and have laid down a deadline of Friday to complete a deal with Milan, or they will shut the door on Beck's transfer.

Should be an interesting next couple days....

That kind of attitude will make it more difficult for them to attract high profile European players in the future.

I still think a deal gets done. Surely they know better than to retain a player against his will.... don't they?

Good for the Galaxy for milking as much of they can out of Milan, but they better hope it doesn't backfire and they get "stuck" with a disgruntled Beckham.

AC Milan isn't convinced the Beckham deal is finished.

Also, Beckham can buy out his contract at any time or leave for nothing in October.

LA Galaxy better get something out of this before it blows up in their face.
