The Hogs got a commit today from 6'7" SG/SF Aaron Ross, from Pulaski Academy in Little Rock. He's supposed to be a Joe Johnson type player and is considered a top 10 player in his class (yes, they have rankings for freshmen):

I didn't know they ranked guys that early. #3 on the list is from Jackson and that would be a great pick up for us.
Oh yeah. Congrats on the commit.

Yeah, HoopScoop actually ranks 6th and 7th graders, which is a bit much.
Here's a list of the top 500 players in the 9th grade according to HoopScoop:

There's a lot of Mississippi talent on that list. Let's hope MSU can retain those players.

I spent my HS years driving around that dreadful PA traffic to and from school.

I had a few friends who went there. I'm just glad you didn't say CAC or Joe T.

Damn that's early. I've never heard of getting a commit this far ahead.

His brother said on drivetime sports that he could potentially get to 6-10, but he's not a post player

Pel stated when Gillispie got 2 2010 commitments that sometimes you can tell how good a guy will be even this early. He also said when he was this young he didn't know how to use the bathroom to (as a slight to Gillispie), so it seems hypocritical to me of Pel. I hope this is a good move, but it is a risk.

there is no risk at all, KT, its a commitment, not a signee
