Tough contest for UK for sure. Ole Miss is looking to get back on the good side of the result ledger. I hate having to play teams I like, and UK has played my three favorite SEC programs the last three times out (UGA, Arkansas, and Ole Miss).

UK is surging and Ole Miss is sinking. I can't see them beating us at home at this point, but you never know. They looked like they could beat most anybody early in the season.

weegeman, great point. Makes you wonder if Ole Miss confidence is shaken, which could make them play not as well as they are capable of.

I do want to see the speedsters going at it: Warren vs Bradley. Those guys can get up and down the court with anybody.

I think their confidence is definitely shaken. They were once on the short list of undefeated teams. Now everybody is taking it to them.

I think their confidence is definitely shaken. They were once on the short list of undefeated teams. Now everybody is taking it to them.

Had they just lost to Southern Alabama I don't think their fall from grace would have been as dramatic, but as you say they went on to even beat Clemson and be one of the last remaining unbeatens, which just makes the fall that much harder to swallow for them. One thing is for sure, they are blessed with a great coach and improving talent. This wasn't supposed to be their year.

All good points. I'm looking forward to the Warren - Bradley matchup. Warren is on my fantasy league team so I've watched him play a lot this year. He is only a freshman, but he is the real deal.

kentubbybasketball

I'm just saying it's not like UK played well at LSU by any means. It's not wise to judge things off one game... who knows if our LSU game was our best or worst of the year (obviously it's somewhere in the middle), but what about Ole Miss, was that their best or worst game.

Ultimately, that's why the game is played on the court... luckily on Gillispie's court.

kentubbybasketball
02-25-2008, 11:14 AM
To me, this will be one of Gillispie's toughest coaching matchups of the season. When it comes to coaches they don't get much better than Andy Kennedy in this league. It'll be a chess match for the ages really. Two great coaches on the sideline (people trying to get into the business need to watch this awesomeness on the sidelines: Gillispie and Kennedy; two of the best at building up a program).

I think if we lose at least 2 of our next games then we can forget about making it to the big dance come March. So all these is a must win game, well except for UT, but if we lose 2 games in the rest of schedule Ole Miss, USC, and UF then we can forget about going to March Madness unless we win the SECT and get an automatic bid. I think these games coming up are must wins for us, not necessarily UT, but our other 3 games.

Arkansas and Ole Miss have the two best frontcourts in the conference IMO. We surprisingly outplayed Arkansas' last game. But, Ole Miss is up tonight. The thing about it is where Arkansas is athlete and just quick inside, Ole Miss is more plodders and they just go straight through you. The Arkansas style is a better fit our guys. Somebody like Perry Stevenson can't go with Parnell in a battle of pushing around one another. Should be interesting to see who controls the style inside. If it's about finesse: Advantage Perry and Kentucky... otherwise, Ole Miss has the advantage.

Bradley with some great play. He just hit a shot over Warren (something he'll have all game long since Warren is much shorter). Then he had a 2 on 2 break and he chose to bring the ball back out because he didn't have the floor balance advantage. Great job by a gritty senior.

Stevenson with 2 blocks already. That's what he was recruited to do. I like Perry's hustle this game.

At times AJ is a liability on defense, but the only way to get better is to put him in the fire and let him learn from his mistakes. He's as athletic as anybody on this team. His continued improvement could allow UK to squeeze out of the 2008 recruiting class without a traditional power forward if that's what ends up happening.

The first 5 minutes of this second half will tell a lot about UK. Do you put the clamps on and go on to win in the 20s. Or do you let up and let Ole Miss make things interesting? This will be Gillispie's first chance to see how UK handles prosperity in the second half against a good opponent.

This is eerily similar to the Stony Brook game that we probably should have lost. Got out to a early start and faded miserably late.

11:35 left in the game. 38-31.

Joe's been our best player tonight. He's really played unselfishly even though that was a bad three when we had the 4 on 1 break. Outside of that, he's been very unselfish.

I wish we could play two halves of basketball. I know this year is pretty much in the tank but hopefully we'll at least finish out the season strong. With the way we are capable of playing, we could reel off four wins in a row at the SECT but we have to play from beginning to end. At least we didn't just curl up into the fetal position tonight. I'm proud of our we fought back. The next two years should be exciting years for Ole Miss basketball. Good game UK.

I think last night is a indication that Ole Miss might be on the right track again. Ole Miss has talent and in the first half, they looked lost and played with no heart. The second half they looked like the team that beat Clemson and the team that almost beat Tenn @ Tenn early in the season. I love watching Warren play, he is a exciting player and its scary to think he is only a freshmen...
