Like Billy D doesn't get on players early like Floyd.:raz: Noah Coatrill anyone or Dakotah Euton.

Unbelievable. Somebody put his Dad on the coaching staff, quick! In ten years we'll reap the benefits.

I never once heard a story about him recruiting, much less offering, a middle school kid. Sorry thats ridiculous.

Tim Floyd set that precedent last year, but I know for a fact that Billy D was on Noah Coatrill and Dakotah Euton, who were both in the 9th grade last year when they committed to West Virginia and Kentucky, respectively, over Florida. So, yeah, it's true he's not been on an eighth grader (to public knowledge), but he will recruit 9th graders.

I personally don't have a problem with recruiting kids early, but I know Billy D recruits as early as anybody (other than Floyd). It's one of the reasons he's a good recruiter.

I made fun of Floyd specifically for take a commit from a kid not even in HS. Not saying coaches don't contact recruits all of HS. That has definitely become a norm. If we're getting philosophical there is definitely a point where kids are not mentally prepared to deal with the recruiting sales pitch. I am not convinced 9th graders are, but when all of the coaches are pitching the kids at least the balance is the candy store has a lot of variety and they are not just going to see Hersheys as a middle school kid and think Hersheys must be the best chocolate ever.

Now granted the parents/guardians of this children are the ones obligated with keeping control of who talks to the kids but I feel there should also be an ethical obligation on coaches not to cross lines that should be there. IMO of all the things the NCAA does micromanage, they are badly missing something they should be prohibiting.

Gillispie has been in contact for about 6 months. Expect a verbal by the end of this 5th grade year.
