Scottie Haralson(Jackson Provine), listed as a 6-4,6-5/shooting guard, and many other Jackson, MS area players are very talentad. 2008 recruit, Haralson shoots lights out. Lots of good young prospects in the Jackson area. Monte Ellis(NBA) played at Jackson Lanier. Southern Miss picked up standout guards Jeremy Wise and R. L. Horton from this area. Other Jackson area standouts(Class 2008).............Chris Wallace 6-3 guard(Jackson Wingfield), Lamar Williams 6-5 power PF(Jackson Lanier), Terry Church 6-3 guard(Jackson Lanier), Leventrice Gray 6-5,6-6 SF(Jackson Lanier). Just out from Jackson, in/at Clinton you have an electrifying athelete named Vincenzo Nelson 6-5,6-6 SF(Clinton). Also, others, including very talented juniors, sophomores, freshmen , ect.

Yeah, he was interested in going to Minnesota at some point, but Tubby took a commitment from Devoe Joseph and they only have one ride left over, and it might go to the Faber guy from Cali, but if it does go to a guard, it might be earmarked for Verdell Jones.

If Minnesota wanted him, I'd predict him to go there, but I don't think they are on him as much anymore.

Scottie Haralson(Mississippi Dandy Dozen) really started to break out more last season, and is set to make even more noise this season. Scouts have been underating Jackson, MS area players like Jeremy Wise, R. L. Horton, Ect. Haralson is an underated player as well.

I agree. I think he'll make some high major happy that he kind of slipped thru the cracks.

Scottie Haralson was MVP of the Mississippi North South All Star Star game . Scored 20 points. Romero Osby had 19 points.

Scott Central 6-4 guard/wing Kenneth Barlow(Mississippi Dandy Dozen) is underated as well. Very atheletic, and really attacks the basket. Finishes very strong/well. Word is, he's a man-child. Very good upside.

I can't remember the last time a guard was called a "man child." LOL

Scotty Hopson is a very talented player. Hopson indicated that he was still committed("Im just weighing my options") to Mississippi State but/though entertaining offers, ect. from other schools. He indicated that he was committed/firm enough. It's good to stand by(people in general)your word, ect. All people. The press released statements indicating that he was still committed("It's firm. It's firm enough").

Jonathan Phelps, Vicksburg(Class of 2008)- The 6-1 guard is the son of former Vicksburg, Alcorn State, and NBA-Seattle Super Sonics, L. A. Clippers player, Michael Phelps. Johnathan(Dandy Dozen, Played in the Mississippi- North/South All Star Game), is a big time scorer(averaged nearly 29 points per game last season, career high 46 points). Mississippi State is listed as one of his schools of interest. Like Southern Mississippi's R.L. Horton(Mississippi 2007 Mr. Basketball), he's not that tall but and still, he's very talented. Very underrated. This kid has big time potential.

Columbus ( Miss. ) New Hope couldné─˘t breathe easy Wednesday night until senior forward Rashanti Harris gathered his 25th and final rebound, on an intentionally missed free throw by Plantation American Heritageé─˘s Eloy Vargas, to secure a thrilling overtime victory, 82-78, in the Bank of America City of Palms Classic.

Vargas was fouled on a 3-point attempt with 2.4 seconds remaining and the Patriots trailing, 80-77. He missed the first and made the second, before Harris grabbed his final carom of the evening. He added a pair of free throws é─ţ making him 10-for-12 é─ţ for the final margin.

Harrisé─˘ putback with 1:44 left in regulation gave the Trojans a 69-67 lead, their first advantage since the first quarter. But Vargas responded with a one-hand slam off an offensive rebound to send the game into overtime.

Hopeé─˘s Dale Hughes led all scorers with 34 points, followed by Harrisé─˘ 32 points. Heritageé─˘s leading scorer Kenny Boynton, saddled with foul trouble and limited to 19 minutes, was held to 13 points. Raymond Taylor led the Patriots with 24 points.

Neither team shot well in the first half, although there were several entertaining sequences of dunks, blocks and acrobatic field-goal attempts. Vargas scored 13 points to pace all scores in the first half, as the Patriots took a 35-30 lead at the break.

Harris was a force from the beginning on the backboards, with 10 of the Trojansé─˘ 26 first-half rebounds, which helped his team to a plus-8 advantage. They finished the game with a 51-33 advantage on the glass.
