Georgetown. Holy cow. Thought there was no way he would get away from LSU but I guess he was sold on following the Hoya big man tradition.
Georgetown just landed the biggest prize in the Class of 2008.
According to a pair of sources close to the situation, Greg Monroe, Scout.com's top-ranked prospect in the senior class, committed to John Thompson III and the Hoyas just before returning home to Louisiana on his official visit.
The 6-foot-10 Monroe chose Georgetown over Duke, LSU, Texas and UConn.
The Hoyas, who weren't given much of a chance of landing Monroe over Duke and in-state LSU, took advantage of their success last season — when Jeff Green and Roy Hibbert helped lead them to their first Final Four since 1985.
Monroe is a skilled forward who was Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski's top priority in the class. He immediately becomes the prize catch of Thompson's three-year tenure at Georgetown.
