I agree with you on Miles although it could very well be Spurrier. I think it's down to those two though.

Freshman of the year has to be Grant - afterall he set a record (according to rollingbaby) by winning Freshman of the Week three straight weeks...

Holy god...never thought I'd see Croom on anyone's radar for SEC COY. Congratulations to all SEC teams for making it this far. The SEC continues to prove its dominance over the other conferences.

That's what I'm saying..............

Thanks, again, Mike Shula!!!!

Terry Grant has La Tech to pad his stats again. Just go back and worship Matt Stafford, DiD.

I was torn on Wright and Haden. Wright has made his presence felt forcing fumbles and with big tackles. Gave the nod to Haden because after 6 games he has all of 6 games worth of corner experience in his life and he has done a heck of a job locking his guy down almost the entire year.

Is there just an overall freshmen of the year or do they give an offensive and defensive award?

Maybe the fact that it's Sly Croom we're talkin' about? I know he's not being considered for the job or anything but I could easily name a bunch of guys I would rather get. Don't get me wrong he has done a fine job this season, but still...besides, the NFL is a completely different beast.

Fo, I know you Cock fans are exited, and deservedly so. But how can you name Smelley as Freshman POY when he has only contributed in two or three games?

If we can pick OFOY and DFOY my OFOY would be Terry Grant from Alabama.

Right now he is 3-0 as a starter (and the team is #7 in the country), and since taking over in the second half vs LSU has 5 TDs and 2 Ints. Smelley has participated in 4/6 games (was injured the other two). 4th in passing rating and second in yards per completion.

He led the team to three scoring drives in the final 18 minutes vs MSU and was perfect in the 4th Quarter against Kentucky with 2 touchdowns.

Just my opinion, but QBs make a bigger impact on a team than a RB - and for a redshirt freshmen to perform this well, especially in 4th quarters, he deserves the nod halfway through the year.

Also, I forgot Grant was a freshman;) you can make a case for him, too. Moreno should be in the mix with Brown's injury..but not at midseason, imo.

I'm not sure how Grant isnt the FOY so far he is one of the top RB in the SEC regardless of class.
