Listed as the 61st best player in the 2008 class by Rivals and the #2 Prep PG in the country by Scout, Fortson is a score first PG whose quickness puts a lot pressure on the defense. I am excited about Courtney. Honestly, we haven't had a great PG since Kareem Reid which has been quite a few years.

He was offered by Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida State and others. He was the 2007 Mr. Basketball in Alabama. Here's a youtube video of him for those curious to see:

There are several players the Hogs are recruiting hard that will be deciding in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully this is the first of several commits in that time span.

They say he is a Nate Robinson type dunker. Praise God for this commit.

I might add this is the one thing Heath could never do in recruiting, is get a great PG. Ferguson ran PG for us, even Brewer, both were more SG's, Dontell Jefferson was a bust at PG, McCurdy never worked out at PG. Stan went after the good ones but time after time they chose other schools. Good to see Pelphrey change that tune right off the bat!!

Great job Arkansas. I think I must say though that he was offered by Kentucky, but that was before we got a commitment from DeAndre Liggins. I don't think Kentucky stayed on him too much over the last good while.

Anyway, there's not much depth at the point in this class, and this was probably the 3rd best of the remaining uncommitted lead guards, so this is a nice pickup for Arkansas. This should quiet some of the rumblings I've heard from Arkansas fans about Pel's recruiting to date.

Yea, I think you are right, he was offered early, but UK backed off a little bit. Either way, UK thought he was good enough to offer him which is usually a good sign.

Hopefully any rumblings transfer to praise in the next few weeks. We should get some more commitments soon.

Yeah, Kentucky did think Fortson was talented enough to play here, and for Arkansas' sake I'm happy, because Arkansas is one of the other teams that I root for. In a way, I hope you guys don't get Rotnei Clarke... that's just because I'm afraid of his stroke, but I'll be happy in the sense that it is Arkansas, which I have the utmost respect for. Good luck with that.
