injuries are a part of every sport, he's lucky it wasn't worse.

I call him a success because I havn't followed MLS as much in the past as I do now.

I don't think it's safe to call Beckham a bust as of right now but if this keeps up over a period of time then yea I would say he's a bust.

He's not a bust, he has performed well when he has been on the field, plus he has brought more PR to the MLS than it has had in years.

I just think people focus too much on him and not the rest of the league- he isn't the only good player in the MLS after all.

Thats not the case on this forum. The ones who hate soccer still come in here and act like ********. So dont even use that excuse. And all of us know that's possible. I dont understand it, I dont go on the other boards and constantly bash something I hate. Otherwise you'd see me on the NASCAR and Wrestling boards every day.

He has done exactly what MLS expected. Draw record sales and crowds. As far as him being a bust as a player, I think he is VERY overrated. As far as him as a soccer player, he is famous because of the midfield goal shot against Wimbledon in 2003. So, I believe he will be considered a bust from a strictly soccer standpoint, but from a media and financial standpoint he will end up being a success for MLS.

People will continue to come to games w/ Beckham out? Is it just L.A.'s attendance that increase or the league as whole?

#1GamecockFan
09-06-2007, 05:38 PM
I don't see it having a huge effect on MLS attendance as a whole, but L.A. will make so much stinking money at their games, it will be a big boost to the bottom line for MLS. I believe people will still go to the L.A. games if he is out.

As far as him as a soccer player, he is famous because of the midfield goal shot against Wimbledon in 2003. .

And the fact that he made his first appearance for ManU at age 17... and playing in integral role in leading ManU to become the only English team to win the FA Cup, EPL, and Champions League in the same season...and the game winning goal against arch rival Argentina in the World Cup in 2002 (avenging a defeat against them from the last world cup)... and being England's captain for 6 years...

I agree that he's no longer among the best of the best with guys like Henry, Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi, Michael Essien, etc. But people act like he's this old, has been, washed up old bag when he's still a helluva player.

Then again, I'm a MANC so perhaps I'm a little biased haha

attendence is way up in all of LA's away games, i'll be interested to see the road game attendence the "second" time Beckham comes to town.
