Allan Chaney, the 6'8, 220 power forward from New London, CT, committed to Florida today. Florida needed two more bigs in this class and with Angel Garcia unlikely to qualify to play college ball (figure he will play in Spain next year), having a top 100 forward is a nice back up plan to be able to turn to. One more piece needs to fall in place with a big time forward/center and Florida's 2008 class will wrap up quite nicely.

Congrats on the pickup, Florida will rarely ever have to worry about attracting non-top 100 players.

Quick question: So, Florida wants 3 bigs in this class... Kadji and Chaney and someone else? You don't think that's overkill?

Not really because most people around the program think Speights is going to explode onto the scene ala Horford or Noah when they broke out and then nobody really knows whether or not he will stay for his junior year if that happens. If he does stay, we will have unbelievable size with the 3 incoming bigs, Tyus, Speights and then guys like Calathes, Allen and Parsons on the wing

Gotcha. That's true. One thing that has made Florida hard to defend for years is that they have always had tall guys that can shoot. Walsh was 6'6, Brewer 6'9, and Parsons I suppose is about 6'8. It also gives Billy D the option of playing a smaller, more fluid lineup by moving Parsons over to the 4 on occassion perhaps.

Crazy thing with Parsons is he is still growing and is expected to top out at 6'11 and Calathes may top out at 6'8. Those are some tall shooters.

As long as they can maintain their quicks... they'll be hard to guard.
