Uruguay took the lead in the 74th minute on a Penalty kick.

Uruguay's Cardaccio scored an OWN GOAL in the 87th to allow the US to tie. And Michael Bradley wins the game in the 107th minute with a goal.

Btw, Uruguay fought our players at the end. Even the British announcer said they are known as the poorest losers in football. They tried to scrap with Brazil last night after losing in penalty kicks in the Copa America semifinal.

Here's a video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEHbCfMuAE4

Apparantly the reason Michael Bradley was so pissed was because Uruguays Cardaccio (#7) went studs up at him and hit him in the balls I think. Same player for Uruguay who scored the own goal and helped us win, PRICELESS.

Michael Bradley sure broke the language barrier during the fight by doing the "2-1" finger motion and lipping it too, LOL!!

i see.........i liked the USA kid going "2-1" to the Uruguay players......

and how come Uruguays players looked like they were 30?......LOL

They are so dirty...I cant even believe it. They did this vs Brazil last night too, I guess they learn from example. I mean the country only has 3,500,000 people. They should be proud of the talent they have, yet their players pull that ****.

I so watched this game, and so screamed in joy when Bradley made that goal.

The own goal was going to be a goal no matter what, it just made it that much funnier to see him flip out at the end.

boxvic
07-12-2007, 01:48 AM
Oh and we ended with 5 yellows to 3, but technically it should have been 3 yellows to like 6. We had two technical yellows, while they got away with a lot of crap that should have been a yellow, if not a red.

SECgamecock453

Uruguay plays dirty no doubt about it. I saw them vs Brazil last night and when Robinho was wide open from a pass on the left wing, the Uruguay defender just caught up and flat out pushed him to the ground.

boxvic

I'm pretty sure it was Cardaccio who got away with a blatant shot on a US player (Valentine maybe?)? No foul, no yellow, no nothing.

SCfan....thought of you today, was at the used dvd shop and actually found a copy of "The Football Factory" for $7.99. I think that was you that said you liked in when I posted about it last year. One of you guys anyway. Anyway, us few soccer fans would enjoy it, if you havn't seen it, try finding it, it's a movie about hooliganism, but not as watered down for Americans like "Green Street Hooligans" was, even though that was top notch too.

As for your sig, England is my 2nd favorite int'l side behind the US of course. I will say I'm not a huge Rooney fan, but I love Scholes, Rio Ferdenand and the boys.

Even England fans hate Rooney. Its his attitude on the pitch IMO. He cannot cool himself down. He can play but I dont like him either. I dont have a problem with any of the other players though. Maybe Shaun Wright-Phillips, I hope he retired by now....

Oh, and I will not take credit for leading the charge, haha. Brummett first had the US crowd vs Mexico during Gold Cup final, I simply copied his sig. But I was so disgusted in our Copa America play I took it down.

Exactly. The guy can ball, but his temper is worse than mine is and that's saying something. Although his red card in the WC against Portugal, at this young stage in his career, kinda reminds me of Beckham back in '98 when he did the same thing. Obviously Becks is well liked again now as he was the captain, but he wasn't truly forgiven until he hit the PK against the arch rival Argies in 2002 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaihF8VdgUA

Rooney can only pray he gets that kind of shot at redemption.

Nice video man, I really hope England can step it up in the next World Cup (if they even make it) because they (as you said) are my 2nd fav. team besides the US. I believe every American soccer fan has some tie to a European country, thats just how we are.

Because the US is my #1 team even though I know they will probably never amount to much on a world scale, but we're always better than Canada. D@mn if my #2 team is gonna be ANOTHER squad that gives me no hope of winning the cup!

Plus my family lineage traces back to Wales and England pretty heavily, so it makes it that much easier to pull for them.

I'm mainly Irish and southern English; so are most Canadians. Canadians share a common modern culture with us; England and Ireland only share a partial common modern culture with us. I'll call a Canadian brother before I will an Irishmen, even if my mom's maiden name is Phelps.

I guess I don't care much about ancestry because my family is almost entirely Irish and southern English--on both sides--but I didn't grow up with an Irish heritage; so it really means nothing to me.

i loved being in england for the world cup last year. that country is so passionate about soccer it was ridiculous. i worked at a restaurant, and when the england matches came on, the whole place shut down and we would all go out to the bar and watch the game on the big screen.

people i knew were torn on Rooney, they liked his play, but hated his attitude and the fact that he is dumber than a sack a potatoes.

Here is a link to the first five minutes from "Football Factory" on youtube.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=8E_k-ZlrAGA

I suggest finding it somewhere and watching it with subtitles, these guy's cockney accents are thiscker than hell and it's hard to understand them when they get going. But you can see from this first 5 minutes what it's all about.

Haha tell me about it I am a Vandy and cubs fan. haha, I think a Quarterfinals appearance would not be dissappointing, it is what I am expecting, I think anything past that would be very good and something to get excited about. Really anything past group play is a plus. But I think we will have the talent to make a deep run.

SCfan804
07-17-2007, 11:26 AM
Yeah at this point I'd just like to re-live the excitement of making it out of the group stage, and preferably win at least one more after that (even more preferably against Mexico again haha). I still remember making the final 8 in 2002 when we outplayed the Germans but lost.

Between guys like Freddie, Altidore, Eddie Johnson, Feilhaber, etc I feel like we'll have a very young and talented squad next go round as opposed to the kinda "aging" squad we put out this past year.
