"Yes, that's what he told me," Mrs. Liggins said. "He loves coach Gillispie."

Congrats UK.
Washington's DeAndre Liggins, better known as "The Ticket," is one of those rare players that can beat a team in many different ways. Liggins led his team to the Public League title game in two straight years, averages 14 points, 10 assists, six rebounds, five steals, two blocks and takes two charges per game. He has the potential to get a triple-double every time he steps on the court.
Liggins is a 6-6 point guard who can see over the top of most defenses, passes well and is an outstanding rebounder -- and is now developing a consistent jump shot. Washington coach Ken Crump says his potential is unlimited.
"In my opinion, he is the best all-around player in the city. No other player does as much for his team as he does," Crump said.

Calling this guy a point guard really limits him. He's not a player that you can just isolate and say he plays this position. He's can play anywhere from the 1 to the 3 IMO... and being the best player in Chicago really says something. I wonder who this knocks out now from the rest of our prospects (Clark, Warren, and Miller). I doubt it's Miller... maybe Warren though, because Clark is just an outstanding "Lee Humphrey" like shooter that you can't just pass on.

Sounds like Calathes in that he can move around to a few positions and do so many different things well.

Yeah, I bet Calathes is a bit of a better shooter, while Liggins probably is more athletic. That'll be a good matchup to see. I've even heard Liggins is Jasper with the confidence in his J.

I think that is a fair assessment.

It does. I just mean that they can change positions and play 3 different spots well. That is invaluable when there are injuries or foul trouble. You need guys like that, really. Didn't mean the necessarily do the same things. UF-UK (with the way both are gearing up with talent) look to be heading towards a major rivalry that should be one all cbb fans tune into twice a year.

After watching many videos on Liggins, in the open court he is unreal at finding the open man and at 6-6, he can see over the defense...

It's good to see Kentucky holding its own. Gillispie is a welcome departure from the way recruiting had gone down the last couple of years (even tho 2006 was a good class for us). It's fun to be able to talk about recruiting in a positive way for a change... of course, you gotta do something with the players.
