Alabama defensive lineman Raekwon Davis was hospitalized after being shot in the right leg outside of a Tuscaloosa bar early Sunday morning, according to a report from the Tuscaloosa News.
The report states that Davis was not a target in the incident and that the injury is minor.

"The victim told investigators he was standing outside of Bar 17 when he heard several gunshots and realized he had been shot in the right leg," homicide unit commander Capt. Gary Hood said, according to the report. "The victim was uncooperative with investigators."

Alabama coach Nick Saban commented on the incident during his Monday press conference.

"With the Raekwon Davis situation, we're still gathering information," Saban said. "It doesn't seem like our players were guilty of anything other than being out late, which doesn't make me happy. He has been released from the hospital. He's here, and he's getting treatment. He'll be day-to-day, and we're still gathering information. What his status is moving forward will be a medical decision, not something that we can really comment on here right now."

Davis was a four-star prospect and the 12th-ranked defensive tackle in the country in the Class of 2016. The 6-foot-7, 315-pound native of Meridian, Mississippi, is expected to to be a major part of the playing rotation along a Crimson Tide defensive line that lost stars Jonathan Allen and Dalvin Tomlinson from a year ago. With Da'Ron Payne entrenched in the middle, Davis was in line to take over for Allen as the ultra-athletic, multidimensional end in Saban and coordinator Jeremy Pruitt's 3-4 system.

As a freshman last year, Davis had four tackles and one sack but showed promise this spring. Davis was one of seven freshmen lauded as most improved freshman following Alabama's spring practice session, and he was recognized as top lineman in the team's spring game after notching seven tackles and one sack.

Top-ranked Alabama opens its 2017 season Saturday against No. 3 Florida State at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.

The bar owner claims that Davis shot himself. I heard this morning that the bar owner is stating that Davis was actually across the street from the bar shooting or pointing his own gun in the air and accidentally shot himself somehow. This may be the reason Davis was not being cooperative with police.
