Horns prevail 50-47 in double OT. Texas was better the entire game, it took ND blocking Texas' PAT and returning it for two points for them to tie the game. Texas led by as many as 17 points, ND fought back but Texas, and senior Swoopes who came in to run a Wildcat style package in short yardage/goal line situations got the win.

Texas has to be happy with Buechel, the youngster who started. He did a fantastic job in his first start. Texas was incredibly balanced, the run game as gashing ND all night and Buechelle made some great throws to keep the defense honest.

Im not sure Texas was better the entire game. Their running game just dominated the LOS for most of the night and ND couldn't make plays when they had opportunities. The drive after the blocked PAT really hurt ND. They could have really put the icing on Texas and won it in regulation

It goes both ways, if the chop block call isn't made (and I'm not sure it was a chop block. Lineman went low but he didn't hit anyone, he whiffed) when Texas is driving before end of regulation, they may win.

Strong is a good coach. It is nice that Texas didn't fire him last year considering the mess he inherited.

I think the jury is still out on Strong, who needs a big season to cool his hot seat. Finding a way to beat Notre Dame is a great way to start, but he needs to follow up much better than he did after beating Oklahoma last season...

He does need to follow this up. However, he was good at Louisville. He isn't safe, for sure, but this is the start he needed.

Shorter version: I basically agree with you. lol

The schedule opens up for them. They should thump UTEP and beat Cal. October will tell their season - @ Ok st, vs OU, vs Iowa St @ Kansas St and vs Baylor.

I took great joy in seeing Texas send those goofy Catholics home with a loss on the day Mother Teresa was canonized.

Cal looked very good in opener v Hawaii, but they're (Hawaii) terrible. Where is the game?

Cal played Hawaii? I thought that Michigan played Hawaii?

Hawaii played both teams. The unofficial opener actually came before the last Thursday in Australia on a Thursday night. The official opening day was the last Thursday.
