Overall... I'm excited. I think GP & Co. are moving in a good direction, and the flips over the last few days were fun to watch. Good stuff.

Terry Beckner (#1 DT) & Drew Lock (#6 QB) are the two standouts (as far as media is concerned, and for good reason). But I'm also excited to see how GP & Co. develop the 3-4 Stars -- they consistently produce "overlooked" recruits that beat out more "prestigious" recruits. But I don't want to go into all of that; the SEC will start to pick up on that as time passes.

Having said all of that, I read an interesting article (http://www.stltoday.com/sports/high-school/football/mizzou-wins-battle-for-beckner/article_5aac148d-f8b8-5d30-9af2-61478a15a7bc.html) about how Mizzou recruiting compares to SEC. There is always debate here, but I thought it was a 'fair shake'. Here are some of the stats that blew me away:

- From 2012-2014, the SEC Signed 302 players from the ESPN 300 list. That's 181 more than any other conference.

- From 2012-2014, the SEC signed 21 5 Stars. That's 5 more than every conference combined.

These are amazing stats. Even if you have problems with the recruiting rankings system(s) and how they assign value to players... you simply can't argue with the dominance of recruiting in this conference. It's incredible.

Great get by the staff to keep Beckner at home.

Great get by the staff to keep Beckner at home.

Huge for us (though technically, he lives ~ 5 miles across the border into IL).

Consider his other finalists:

Florida State: 2014 NC
Auburn: 2014 NC Finals
Ohio State: 2015 NC
